Sometime After Finding Out that She was Pregnant with God’s Son, the Messiah

I Want to Point Out One Major Theme of this Song:

Luke 1:46–55 (LSB)

46 And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, 47 And my spirit has rejoiced in God my Savior. 48 “For He has looked upon the humble state of His slave, For behold, from this time on, all generations will count me blessed. 49 “For the Mighty One has done great things for me, And holy is His name. 50 “AND HIS MERCY IS UPON GENERATION AFTER GENERATION TOWARD THOSE WHO FEAR HIM. 51 “He has done a mighty deed with His arm; He has scattered those who were proud in the thoughts of their heart. 52 “He has brought down rulers from their thrones, And has exalted those who were humble. 53 “HE HAS FILLED THE HUNGRY WITH GOOD THINGS, And sent away the rich empty-handed. 54 “He has given help to Israel His servant, In remembrance of His mercy, 55 As He spoke to our fathers, To Abraham and his seed forever.”

The Major Theme We See in this Song from Mary is:

The Arrival of God’s Son will Bring a Great Reversal of Roles:

Mary, the Humble Slave, will Be Considered Blessed By All Generations

The Proud will Be Scattered

The Rulers will Be Brought Down from Their Thrones

The Humble will Be Exalted/Lifted Up

The Hungry will Be Filled

The Rich will Become Empty-Handed

When King Jesus Arrives:

Roles will Be Reversed

Justice will Be Served

What’s Wrong will Be Made Right

We See this in My Favorite Verse of the Hymn:

“Joy to the World”

No more let sins and sorrows grow Nor thorns infest the ground; He comes to make His blessings flow Far as the curse is found

Ultimately, Jesus Came to Reverse the Curse

The Curse of Sin

The Curse of Death

The Curse that Affects All of Creation

When You Get to the End of Revelation…

John Sees a Vision of a New Heaven & a New Earth

All Things Being Restored

And in Revelation 2:3, We Read this:

Revelation 22:3a (NASB95)

3 There will no longer be any curse; and the throne of God and of the Lamb will be in it, and His bond-servants will serve Him;

Everything that We Lost in the Fall…

Will Be Restored By/Through Our King

No More Sin

No More Pain

No More Sadness

No More Illness

No More Growing Old

No More Death

King Jesus will Bring a Great Reversal to Everything

That is the Gospel Hope

That is the Good News that Brings Joy to the World
