And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.
Therefore also now, saith the Lord,
Turn ye even to me with all your heart,
And with fasting, and with weeping, and with mourning:
And rend your heart, and not your garments,
And turn unto the Lord your God:
For he is gracious and merciful,
Slow to anger, and of great kindness,
And repenteth him of the evil.
God never rejects a broken and contrite heart! God puts it back together better and uses you in ways you never thought possible.
The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit:
A broken and a contrite heart, O God, thou wilt not despise.
The righteous cry, and the Lord heareth,
And delivereth them out of all their troubles.
The Lord is nigh unto them that are of a broken heart;
And saveth such as be of a contrite spirit.
We come to him calling upon Him. He doesn’t go chasing after us, rather He bids us come and leaves the decision to us. But those who respond to Him has Him near and delivers them!
The Lord is nigh unto all them that call upon him,
To all that call upon him in truth.
Praise ye the Lord:
For it is good to sing praises unto our God;
For it is pleasant; and praise is comely.
The Lord doth build up Jerusalem:
He gathereth together the outcasts of Israel.
He healeth the broken in heart,
And bindeth up their wounds.
The Lord is looking for those who are concerned, those who realize there is a cause to be continually seeking after Him!
God wants to help you and grow you, but you can’t do it sitting comfortably in the back with folded arms! You must come and get involved!
We are soldiers in the army!
We must fight on!
Paul commanded Timothy to fight the good fight!
Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, whereunto thou art also called, and hast professed a good profession before many witnesses.
Paul told Timothy that he had fought a good fight!
I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith:
God wants to use you in this fight, but you must get in the fight! You can no longer sit on the sidelines and cheer others on. God chooses you to fight!
If you want to be used of God this year, I’m asking you to get up out of your seat and come stand around these altars and lift your hands in surrender to God today! Let Him know you are getting on the battle field today! It’s time to put action to the things we have been learning about the past couple months!
