After the blessing and the prophesy of Simeon, the Gospel tell us about Anna, a holy widow who was living to worshiping God night and day, with fasting and prayer for the coming of the salvation of Israel.
With this quote we can initiate our meditation, this woman was a widow, usually the widows where poor, there is a lot of laws in the Old Testament to protect them. And that woman was suffering and worried about the captivity of Israel, not only was worried about her poverty, was worried about the trouble of the whole nation, she was more troubled with the common good, than personal good.
But she was doing something that many people have forgotten to do, a prayer accompanied with penance. She was no full of anger, was full of hope, praying for the salvation of the Israel, and doing penance by the sins of her nation.
We are living also in difficult times, it seems like the enemies of the faith want to surround the Catholic Church, but our reaction must be the reaction of Anna, a prayer and penance.
When mother Mary have appeared in Fatima and other locations, the message is the same, repent, pray and do penance and maybe God will spare the punishment that have prepare.
The last days of this year have been so hard for the Church, and many of us are worried many confusions that is around in the world, and even inside of the of the Church, we have to make an examen how many of our personal sins have cooperated to the actual situation.
And then put me and small goal for the coming year, what kind of penance will be the salt of my prayer, that maybe it tastes good to God.
Learn for Anna, she was fasting and praying, Mother Mary asked the same, we have to turn to God, we have to light the candle the prayer and fast to past the cloudy times.
