3) Jesus’ imperative
a) There is no one word equivalent to our current definition of the word Process in the bible
i) Our current definition of process means a serious of steps or actions taken in order to achieve a particular end.
ii) Yet Jesus gives us a imperative or a command without the steps (Matt 5:48)
(1) Word perfect is Teleios which can also mean complete, full or mature
(2) Lack of steps mentioned
iii) After reading the text we are left with Way more questions than answers and how being the first.
4) Self-help movement
a) Since the 1930 there has been a self-help industry movement
(1) Today there are nearly 15,000 self- help or self-improvement books published each year
(2) When I was in college many people would study in the discipline of psychology for the purpose of fixing themselves and I was included
(3) Not wanting to achieve perfection but just to feel whole, trying to figure out my insecurities, depression and not being good-enough
b) We as a society want to be the Chefs in the kitchen

5) Sanctification:
a) Mainstream theological Christian concept that comes close to answering this dilemma is found in the word Hagiazo or sanctification. To make holy
b) Mainstream theological concept of Sanctification is often described as a process
i) Bible.org like many others discusses the process of sanctification and attributes biblical text we should use to help us in the process
(1) When Christ makes the statement be perfect its we that become the chefs in the kitchen but is that our job
6) The dilemma and answer
i) Jesus says John 8:32 (truth will set you free)
(1) He is the potter, and we are the Clay
(2) He is the Chef and we are the Dish
(3) Philippians 1:6- he who began a good work in you will complete it
1 Thessalonians 5:23 (ESV) 23 Now may the God of peace himself sanctify you completely,
(4) God is doing the Work
ii) Luke 4:18- He came to heal the broken hearted
iii) 1 Corinthians 1:30
(a) Its clear that Jesus is sanctification
(2) He becomes for us perferction, righteousness and holiness
(3) He came to Fix us and complete us, He is our perfection and our Sanctification
7) Commission
a) To trust the process – Trust his hand
i) It is our Job to Trust Him, In so doing we are walking in a trusting relationship being guided by His hand. This allows us to accept out place in process, so we can the bread broken and give it to others and we are not concerned about the process. He is the Chef, We just trust in Him.
ii) So as Peter yarned to be close to Jesus in requesting to come to him on the boat we to have to trust him by planting our feet on solid water, Trust him, his plan step one, let us Pray
