Isaiah 53:1-7

Verse 1- How many of the Jews will believe? Arm= Strength

Verse 2- Jesus will be born an infant and grow up

He did not look like a royal person (in beauty and majesty).

Verse 3-

53:3. The nation Israel despised and rejected the Servant who experienced sorrows (maḵ’ōḇ, “anguish or grief,” also used in v. 4) and … suffering (ḥŏlî, see comments on “infirmities” in v. 4). He was the kind of individual people do not normally want to look at; they were repulsed by Him. For these reasons the nation did not esteem Him; they did not think He was important. Yet He was and is the most important Person in the world, for He is the Servant of the Lord.

Verse 4-

The nation of Isreal claims that Jesus was crucified for his own sins, even today! But They will one day come to realize that He bore their griefs and carried their sorrows. And we must come to the same conclusion!!

Verse 5- Jesus was born to die! (The agony of His substitutionary death)

*To offer peace to ALL of His Image bearers!

As a result those who believe in Him have inner peace rather than inner anguish or grief

Verse 6- ALL of us has gone astray, to our own devilish, evil, corrupt ways......ALL of this SIN/INIQUITY WAS LAID UPON HIM

The essence of sin is going one’s own way, rather than God’s way. That iniquity had to be punished, so the LORD … laid the punishment for that iniquity (cf. Isa. 53:11) not on the “sheep” (Israel and other sinners) that deserved it, but on the Servant who died in their place.

Verse 7-Jesus remained quite and did not defend himself! He willingly laid His life down for you and I. He died for you and I.

And then He conquered Death as he arose again, so you and I could be resurrected with Him-If we only believe!
