Mrs. Taylor Funeral
1. Welcome and thank everyone for being there to support the family and for their continued prayers.
a. There is a time for all things. There is a time to live and a time to die. There is a time to grieve.
b. Grief – The pain of loss. It is God given. It let’s us know that we have loved and that we do love.
c. The secret to grieving well is not by running away from the pain, from feelings, or from family… or God.
I believe that Mrs. Taylor knew this… She would always remind me of the peace that she had within her spirit...
But where did she take her pain and grief?
2. Scripture:
a. Psalm 18:1-2 – I love you, O Lord, my strength. The Lord is my Rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my Rock, in whom I take refuge; my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold. I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised…
b. Psalm 46 - God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change and though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea…
c. Psalm 23 – The Lord is my Shepherd…
The promises of God are as the character of God… unchangeable. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. His promises are yes and Amen. Though all of the earth be destroyed His Word will last forever.
Therefore, we will stand today with everlasting hope, and the joy of the Lord will be our strength.
In this last year, Ms. Eloise Taylor made it clear to me that she had the peace of the Lord upon her, within her. She had a peace that surpassed understanding, a faith that held her until she drew her last breath.
What did she know of? John 14:1-27 - Jesus spoke to His disciples and said, “Do not let your heart be troubled… believe in God… believe in Me… I go to prepare a place for you and I will come back for you… Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you… This is not a worldly peace, but a divine peace...” He would go on to say “Abide in Me...” Stay close...
She drew near to the presence of God, and God was at work within her to both to will and to work for His good pleasure… and out of this relationship with her God, she worked out her salvation with fear and trembling… with peace in her heart.
As she bowed to her God, she stood in faith, in this face of pain and death… recognizing that death is merely a tool to relocate her into the Presence of the One Who died for her.
She would study the Book of Revelation… looking forward to the end and to the signs of the times, believing that we could all be taken up at any moment.
Even though she looked forward, she lived in faith in the here and now.
In the presence of God, in the presence of Jehovah… the mind and heart can be at rest. In the presence of Jesus, there can be salvation, peace, and strength. In the presence of our Lord… that is where we all were made to be…
Be comforted in His presence today, and know that Mrs. Taylor would want each and everyone of you to experience the might presence of her God and be comforted by the promises that He has given to her and to you.
By the promises of God, and the faith Mrs. Taylor professed, she is home safely today in Christ...
Home Safely
I am home in heaven, dear ones / Oh, so happy and so bright! / There is perfect joy and beauty / in this everlasting light. / All the pain and grief is over, / every restless tossing passed, / I am now at peace forever, / safely home in heaven at last. / There is work still waiting for you, / so you must not idly stand; / Do it now, while life remaineth - / you shall rest in God's own land. / When that work is completed, / He will gently call you Home; / Oh, the rapture of that meeting, / Oh, the joy to see you come.
