The FUlfillment Season

Joshua 1:1-11

Joshua 1:1–11 ESV

After the death of Moses the servant of the Lord, the Lord said to Joshua the son of Nun, Moses’ assistant, “Moses my servant is dead. Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them, to the people of Israel. Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses. From the wilderness and this Lebanon as far as the great river, the river Euphrates, all the land of the Hittites to the Great Sea toward the going down of the sun shall be your territory. No man shall be able to stand before you all the days of your life. Just as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you or forsake you. Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” And Joshua commanded the officers of the people, “Pass through the midst of the camp and command the people, ‘Prepare your provisions, for within three days you are to pass over this Jordan to go in to take possession of the land that the Lord your God is giving you to possess.’ ”

Conenction

At the begining of september I preached a message entitles the manna season.

and in this messsage we talked about the shift that was taking place in the atmosphere of our church and personal lives..

and we talked about how god was moving us through a wilderness season, that would be marked by divine provision, growth, and stretching.

2024

as we enter 2024 I want to share what the lord has put into my heart and spirit this last week for the coming year.

I dont claim to be a prophet

but I do know that the lord speaks to me, and through me, and I believe he has given me a hope to share this morning for each of us individually

and for our church as a year..

and this is the message that the lord has been speaking to me..

that 2024 is going to be a season of fulfillment..

Fulfillment

fulfillment of what?

I believe that 2024 is going to move us into a season where God begins to fulfill the promises that have laid dormant in the church and the lives of his peopel.

It will be a season of entering into the land of promise..

and watching god bring forth the victory in each battle.

and seeing the promises we have been given come to furition in our lives..

Joshua

the words of Joshua 1 are stirring words.

Moses has jsut died..

Joshua has taken over the leadership of the poeple..

The people have been wondering through the wilderness.. through the manna season.. for 40 years..

They have been waiting on the promise that the received when they came our of egypt..

the promise that had been givin to thier fathers, and fore fathers..

And now.. God speaks to Joshua..

and he says

its time…

its time to cross the river..

and leave the wilderness

and take the promise that God has spoken to us..

and to see it come to furition..

Joshua 1:2 ESV

“Moses my servant is dead. Now therefore arise, go over this Jordan, you and all this people, into the land that I am giving to them, to the people of Israel.

The time had come..

that the promises the people had been waiting for..

would be fulfilled..

every word of it..

Joshua 1:3–6 (ESV)

Every place that the sole of your foot will tread upon I have given to you, just as I promised to Moses. God tells Joshua..

The promise I spoke decades go..

is about to come to pass through you and the poeple..

The season of fulfillment has arrived..

long time

did you know that between abraham.. the one god origionally promsied the land to his descendants.. and Joshua.. there is about 700 years..

a promise spoken..

and it was fulfilled 700 years later..

wow..

talk about patcience..

we can wait a day for god many times without getting frustrated..

PUrpose in the waiting..

BUT EVEN THROUGH THERE WAS A WAIT..

GOD FULFILLED THE PROMISE..

AND HE USED THE WAITING..

TO TAKE A MAN AND HIS BARRON WIFE AND TURN THEM INTO A MULTITUDE..

Some estimate the people of israel were a total of 2.4 million when the crossed the jordan..

because there is purpose in the waiting..

God raised us a people in the wiating…

He prepared them in the waiting..

We talked about when we talked about the manna season..

that god uses those season to prepare us for the promise..

AND SOME OF YOU HAVE BEEN WAITING ON PROMISES A LONG TIME..

BUT GOD WASNT SLOW TO FULFILL THEM..

HE HAS BEEN PREPARING YOU TO RECEIVE AND TAKE THE PROMISE..

AND WE HAVE COME TO THE JORDAN…

AND THE TIMES HAS COME TO SEE THE FULFILLMENT..

God is a promise keeper..

700 years.. and the promsie is being fulfilled..

I want to remind you this morning that God is a promsie keeper..

1 Corinthians 1:9 ESV

God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Psalm 145:13 ESV

Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom, and your dominion endures throughout all generations. The Lord is faithful in all his words and kind in all his works.

We serve a god that has never broken a promise..

never forgot to fulfil a dream that he has given..

never gone back on his word..

what ever he has spoke to you..

even is it was 40 years ago..

he will bring them to pass..

and we are moving into the season of fulfilment..

HE WILL DO WHAT HE SAID HE WILL DO..

God reminds Joshua, Im going to bring forth every promsie I have given to the fathers and forefathers..

Your about to move into it..

Our Job

But theres going to be some responsibility on your part..

Joshua 1:7–9 ESV

Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success. Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”

God tell joshua..

If your going to see the promise come to pass..

your going to have to hold up your end..

The promise isnt going to just fall in your lap..

Your gonna have to journey..

and your going to have to trust me..

Strong and courageous

Three times God tells Joshua to be strong and courageous..

three times..

If your going to see the promise..

your going to have to have some courage..

But I will be with you..

1. Faith

2024 is going to require some faith..

faith like never before..

Faith like marching around jericho walls without a sound..

and watching them fall when you finally shout..

You see god reminded Joshua that courage doesnt come from knowing who you are..

its comes from knowing who is with you..

knowing the lion of Judah walks with you..

IF WE ARE GOING TO SEE THE FULFILLMENT OF THE PROMISE.. WE ARE GOING TO HAVE TO HAVE SOME RADICAL FAITH THAT IS WILLING TO DO AND BELIEVE EVERYTHING GOD SAYS..

Keep the book of the law

secondly God tells him..

make sure to keep every word of god law…

be obiedeint to my words…

Obiedeince..

if we are going to see God bring forth the promise..

we are going to have to live gods way..

You can not live in sin and see god move on your behalf....

God requires covanant relationship with his people..

where he is their god..

and they are his people..

that is the crux of the entire bible..

that he is our god..

we are his people..

and if we are his people..

we live his way..

and he takes care of us his way..

2. in 2024 there can be no compromise of god words and ways..

we are living in a culture who wants to change the word of god so they can live thier own way..

its gods way or the highway to hell..

there is no compromise,..

if we are going to see revival..

if we are going to see the glory..

if we are going to see sons and daughters return..

and miriacles and signs and wonders return to the altars..

its his way..

holiness..

or no way..

their is no compromise..

God told johsua..

keep my words..

live my way..

Do not be afriad.. for i am with you..

finally god tells him..

dont be afaid..

im with you..

its funny..

Jesus told his disicples and us through them the same thing..

Matthew 28:19–20 ESV

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”

Go take the promise of the kingdom..

and I will be with you..

3. Remember I am with you..

in all we do..

in all we face..

through faith..

through battle..

through vitory..

we are not alone..

We have the promise that christ is ever present wiht us..

leading, guiding, interceeding and interveening..

He is with us..

we can see the promise come to pass..

because the one who will bring it to pass with with us at all times..

we need only acknowldge his presence.

Altar Call..

We have seen wonderful victories this year..

buI i believe with all my hear that 2024 is going to be a year of fulfillment in many ways..

The manna season was marked by provision..

I believe the fulfilment season will be marked by victories..

walls coming down..

territory claimed and coquired..

hearts restored to the kingdom..

promises fulfilled..

God is up to something..

If you believe it this monring..

Im going to ask you to do something a little out of the ordinary..

Im going to ask all that woudl. as a church family.. to come to the altar..

and were going to take a symbolic step..

out of one season and into another..
