2 Corinthians 5:17
Do you all know what tomorrow is? New Years. 2024.
How many of you have heard the saying new year new me?
Most use the gym.
Well how many of you can curl this dumbbell 20 times?
I can barely do it, but we use the new year as a restart. But how will just one day make a whole new person? In reality it will not. But there is one way someone can be a new person. Do you know how?
How are we apart from Jesus, we are broken sinners. We are in the darkness apart from Jesus.
But through Jesus, the gospel, his death burial and resurrection we can be the light of the world.
Matthew 5:16 “In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.”
The apostle Paul uses this terms in 2 Corinthians 5:17 “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.”
Do the 1000 pound dumbbell.
Now being a Christian does not mean you will be able to literally lift 1000 pounds. But what it does mean is that we are to be totally different than how we were before we had a relationship with Jesus. You can finally live for Jesus. You do this by admitting your a sinner to Jesus. Sin is anything that misses the perfect mark of Jesus.
You believe that Jesus did perform all sorts of miracles, that he was and is God, and ultimately he rose from the dead.
Then you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord. Meaning he has your life, and you give it to Him for him to use you.
If you have any questions about this talk to myself, Mrs. Lindsay, or your parents. We would love to talk to you.
After i finish praying you all are dismissed to Children’s church.
