Ask,Seek,Knock.
Ask,Seek,Knock.
Matthew 7:7–8 (NKJV)
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Keep on asking for something to be given and it shall be given you. Keep on seeking, and you shall find. Keep on reverently knocking, and it shall be opened to you
These verse are very encouraging.
Intro: Jesus sermon on the Mount.
In these verses Jesus shows us how to make our desires know to our Heavenly Father.
If we would pray more (ASK,SEEK,Knock) If would see greater things happen in our lives.
I think our prays become very empty. We say the same old thing the same old way, and get the same old results.
We are not asking, we are not seeking, we are not knocking the way God commanded’s us to do.
These verses are commandment. A commandment to pray and how to. ASK, SEEK, KNOCK.
Jesus disciples saw some awesome miracles.
They heard some teach. He taught like no one they had ever heard.
But they don’t ask Jesus to teach to do miracles , or how to preach. They ask Him to teach them to pray.
1 Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.”
Praying the Bible is a great way to pray.
1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
Prayer is.
PRAYER IS BOWING THE SOUL AND KNEES BEFORE GOD
14 For this reason I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,
Bowing the knees before God is a good act, and an attitude of prayer, faith, and worship. The act and attitude of getting low before God is taking the right attitude before Him.
PRAYER IS POURING OUT THE HEART TO GOD
15 But Hannah answered and said, “No, my lord, I am a woman of sorrowful spirit. I have drunk neither wine nor intoxicating drink, but have poured out my soul before the Lord.
8 Trust in Him at all times, you people; Pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us. Selah
We see through out Paul writing to Churches. He prayed for them. Many times from prison. Paul prayed with passion.
44 And being in agony, He prayed more earnestly. Then His sweat became like great drops of blood falling down to the ground.
ASK: “And it shall be given to you”
13 And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son.
Our asking can become our wanting.
Remember. We do not make deals with God.
Moms prayer before we moved to Florida. God, if you will find me a job, a house I can afford, I will serve you at Garada Baptist Church.
There is a difference between making a deal and a commitment.
There may be some special need you have. Are you asking?
My truck. The day I got a text from Caravna.
What do we need to ask for?
5 If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him.
How not to pray.
3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.
You pray for something to be given you and do not receive because you pray with evil intent in order that you may use it [for self-gratification] in your inordinate passions
ASK: Pray for others.
Matthew 5:44 (NKJV)
44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you,
We pray for the sick.
Pray for our loved ones.
Pray for salvation for the lost.
8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
“Seek, and it shall be given unto you”
Who are we seeking? God.
17 I love those who love me, And those who seek me diligently will find me.
6 But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him.
What do we seek?
We ask, and maybe we don’t get what we asked for?
Or maybe we thinks our prayers are not answered, but the answer in no?
Maybe it seem like our prayers, our asking goes no where?
Our question is why are my prayers are not answered?
This is one reason why we seek, we need to know why.
18 If I regard iniquity in my heart, The Lord will not hear.
Sin in your life.
14 if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land.
Bitterness towards a fellow Christian.
Bad attitude.
If you get anger too easy, and it shows.
Maybe your focus needs to be doing more for the Lord, and less of other things out side of the church.
We seek God’s will for us. Maybe God is leading you in a direction you may not want to go.
We seek how God wants you to serve.
If you are a Christian, a follower of Jesus, we need to be serving in some way.
We seek the desire to live a Godly life.
Psalm 86:11–12 (NKJV)
11 Teach me Your way, O Lord; I will walk in Your truth; Unite my heart to fear Your name.
12 I will praise You, O Lord my God, with all my heart, And I will glorify Your name forevermore.
Sometimes our seeking may be what to pray for.
26 Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself makes intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
If you are asking, and it seems to go no where, seek and keep seeking.
8 For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.
Knock.
Matthew 7:7 (NKJV)
7 “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you.
This speaking of s door.
The knocking here denotes seeking entrance
God’s promise is. Knock (keep) on knocking and it will be opened to you”
What doors will be opened to you?
Door of opportunity:
Door of God will for you.
Door of knowing things you need to change in your life.
Jesus is the door.
9 I am the door. If anyone enters by Me, he will be saved, and will go in and out and find pasture.
9 Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone?
10 Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!
Why does God tell us (Command) or us to ASK,SEEK, Knock?
Because He has a desire to answer our prayers.
So in your prayer life this up coming verses.
Keep Asking. Receiving is our reward.
Keep Seeking. Finding is our reward.
Keep Knocking. Open door is our reward.
