21 days of prayer and fasting
21 days of prayer and fasting
A. Personal and Corporate Prayer and Fasting
B. What Should You Fast?
C. What Should You Pray For?
A door-to-door salesman is selling encyclopedias. He knocks on the door of a house and when the man of the house answers, the salesman begins to expound the virtues of his product. He hasn’t got very far into his sales pitch when the prospective customer says, “It’s no good to me mate, I don’t need it.” The salesman is a bit taken aback, but nonetheless he carries on and begins to detail all the knowledge contained in the volumes he is trying to sell. Again the man of the house interrupts he and says, “Look, I told you I don’t need it; I’ve got a wife and she tells me she knows everything.”
I am beginning a new series today called the Doors. It is not about Jim Morrison. It is about doors and doorways found in the bible, both physical and metaphorically. All of them will correlate back to Jesus Christ. Some of these stories will be very familiar to you, some will not, but I pray that it will bless you and start your new year of right.
We will start off with Noah’s Ark and how what is the purpose and meaning behind this story in the bible. We will see the correlation between this story and the book of Revelation.
But let’s start with the main question we should start with
Why did God Send The Flood?
A. Sexual Perversion Of Mankind
When mankind began to multiply on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of mankind were beautiful, and they took any they chose as wives for themselves.
The Nephilim were on the earth both in those days and afterward, when the sons of God came to the daughters of mankind, who bore children to them. They were the powerful men of old, the famous men.
B. Corruption
And the Lord said, “My Spirit will not remain with mankind forever, because they are corrupt. Their days will be 120 years.”
C. Wickedness (infiltrating and continual)
When the Lord saw that human wickedness was widespread on the earth and that every inclination of the human mind was nothing but evil all the time,
1. Man’s Heart is deceitful.
The heart is more deceitful than anything else,
and incurable—who can understand it?
I, the Lord, examine the mind,
I test the heart
to give to each according to his way,
according to what his actions deserve.
There are sins by the hands, but sin that enters a man’s heart possesses his entire being.
2. Compare then to now.
God is a merciful God, that is why we still have
The Open Door
A. Noah found favor with God
The Hebrew word for favor means to be found under grace, to be found precious
By faith Noah, after he was warned about what was not yet seen and motivated by godly fear, built an ark to deliver his family. By faith he condemned the world and became an heir of the righteousness that comes by faith.
2. Even amongst the wickedness, there is still the faithful
3. The ark is a symbol of God’s salvation for mankind
a. Safety and protection from God’s judgement, today we get this through the loving arms of Jesus Christ
b. there was only one door to the ark
You are to make a roof, finishing the sides of the ark to within eighteen inches of the roof. You are to put a door in the side of the ark. Make it with lower, middle, and upper decks.
We have only one way to salvation and that is through Jesus Christ.
B. Reference back to Revelation
God having the door to the ark is God rescuing the faithful from judgement.
a. This open door is a direct reference to Christ and the current open Lamb’s book of life.
b. God is still giving those who have not given their life to Jesus a chance…the door is still open
c. Repentance and acceptance is still available.
The Closed Door
Those that entered, male and female of every creature, entered just as God had commanded him. Then the Lord shut him in.
And the water surged on the earth 150 days.
As the days of Noah were, so the coming of the Son of Man will be. For in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day Noah boarded the ark. They didn’t know until the flood came and swept them all away. This is the way the coming of the Son of Man will be.
A. What God did before He will do again. (World Wide Judgement)
B. The closing of the Lamb’s book of life
I also saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged according to their works by what was written in the books.
And anyone whose name was not found written in the book of life was thrown into the lake of fire.
Conclusion
A. Do not be afraid. If you know Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, stand up with your head held high and speak His name. This world is wicked, corrupt, and filled with sin (and trying to find newer ways to sin). We are called to spread the Good New of Jesus Christ before the rapture and the tribulations come. Before the Lamb’s book of life is closed. Before that door is closed.
B. Altar Call.
