Today is the last day of the year and tomorrow we will be in the year 2024! It’s kind of unreal that we are here in this time in history. Many of us that grew up in the 50’s, 60’s and 70’s never thought we would make it this far. There were threats of wars and many thought the planet couldn’t last this long. But here we are going into another year. It’s and exciting time but it could be stressful knowing that we live in a world that is constantly changing and full of unknowns. It’s the best time to make sure our commitment to our Lord is solid! So here are some things we need to resolve to do in 2024!
Jeremiah 29:11–13 AMP
11 For I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome. 12 Then you will call upon Me, and you will come and pray to Me, and I will hear and heed you. 13 Then you will seek Me, inquire for, and require Me [as a vital necessity] and find Me when you search for Me with all your heart.

Seek Him Wholeheartedly!!

When Jeremiah the prophet wrote this Israel was in captivity in Babylon and the natural circumstances were not great. There future was unknown. Today, here in Hawaii and the US, we might not be in captivity to a stronger nation but our future can be just like the Israelites, unknown. The Good News is God knows. He is the same yesterday, today, and forever. So He knows what’s His plans are. So the first thing we need to do in the new year is to stay close to God!
Joshua 1:8–9 (MSG)
8And don’t for a minute let this Book of The Revelation be out of mind. Ponder and meditate on it day and night, making sure you practice everything written in it. Then you’ll get where you’re going; then you’ll succeed.
9Haven’t I commanded you? Strength! Courage! Don’t be timid; don’t get discouraged. God, your God, is with you every step you take.”

Meditate on His Word!

Our minds are like massive computers with crazy memory. We can remember every bad thing ever spoken to us by people we haven’t even seen in years and as we continue to “meditate” on those things it set the “tpace” for our being offended the rest of our lives. That is of course if we let it. So why not do it God’s way and instead of meditating day and night on what others have done let’s make it a point to meditate on God’s word so we can be successful and not get off our end by being offended!
Romans 12:2 TPT
2 Stop imitating the ideals and opinions of the culture around you, but be inwardly transformed by the Holy Spirit through a total reformation of how you think. This will empower you to discern God’s will as you live a beautiful life, satisfying and perfect in his eyes.

Keep Renewing Our Minds!

We must purpose to renew our minds. I think sometimes we can get into thinking that our minds automatically renew because we do our daily devotions or our SOAPS or our home groups, but renewing the mind is so much more than that. It comes back to meditating on the word always. When something happens that is not good we need immediately remember what God’s word says and not dwell on what happened. Is it easy to do? No it’s hard because it goes beyond our natural way of doing things. We naturally want to dwell on what happened to us. But that’s the world’s way.
1 Thessalonians 5:18 AMP
18 Thank [God] in everything [no matter what the circumstances may be, be thankful and give thanks], for this is the will of God for you [who are] in Christ Jesus [the Revealer and Mediator of that will].

Live a Life of Thanksgiving!

It’s hard to be bitter if we are thankful! So instead of concentrating on all the negativity that can happen in the new year, let’s concentrate on the goodness of God and stay thankful. Thankful for His many blessings when things are good. And thankful for His answer to every problem we face. In everything give thanks not for everything. After all there is nothing too difficult for our God. If we do these things, seek Him wholeheartedly, meditate on His word, keep renewing our minds, and live a life of thanksgiving, 2024 will be the best year no matter how tough it is.
