3. Series Description

The title of our NEW 4 part series is, "A Fresh Start”.
Ever felt like you needed a do-over? Well, you're not alone. In this chapter we will discover how God gave His people a second chance and what that means for us today.
We are going to learn about Moses, the stone tablets, and God's unfailing love, and see how these ancient stories can inspire us to embrace our own fresh starts.
So, chapter is all about faith, forgiveness, and new beginnings!
So if you are taking notes we want to look at 1 thing today: The Command of the Lord

1. The Command of the Lord Vs. 1-4

1.1 The Lord’s Command Involves Starting Over Vs. 1

Back in Ex.32:19 Moses came down the Mountain of God he saw the people worshipping that golden calf so he threw down the stone tablets & broke them…
Symbolizing the fact that the people broke God’s law…
So God says, Mo replace the two old tablets with two NEW tablets.
In other words: Start Over, do it again…
And what a blessing that is for us.
APPLICATION: Because like the Israelites, we too have failed and broken the Law of God.
We too face moments of failure and brokenness in our lives.
But what a blessing it is for us that Jesus gives us a fresh start.
Lamentations 3:22–23 NKJV
22 Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, Because His compassions fail not. 23 They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.
APPLICATION: I believe God is telling someone, let’s start over.
God is encouraging us to start fresh - Let’s start over and move in the right direction.
Psalm 78:38 NKJV
38 But He, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, And did not destroy them. Yes, many a time He turned His anger away, And did not stir up all His wrath;
Jeremiah 3:12 NKJV
12 Go and proclaim these words toward the north, and say: ‘Return, backsliding Israel,’ says the Lord; ‘I will not cause My anger to fall on you. For I am merciful,’ says the Lord; ‘I will not remain angry forever.
So seek the Lord, seek his forgiveness and mercy and start over.
Now notice there in the beginning of Vs. 1 God tells Moses to cut two tablets of stone..
This could be a metaphor for our own responsibility for a fresh start.
APPLICATION: In other words, there is a responsibility, a duty, an obligation, on our end that we need to do to begin this fresh start.
And that is to obey God.
Go back to the basics: Read your bible, REPENT from your wicked ways, listen, watch, holy things, pray, and go to church.
easy as that and God will do the rest.

1.2 The Lord’s Command Involves a Mediator Vs. 2-4

So Moses is commanded to come up Mt. Sinai where the Lord will Renew His covenant with His people… so once again Moses is to be the Mediator between God & man…
Such a Beautiful picture looking forward to Jesus…
Hebrews 8:6 NKJV
6 But now He has obtained a more excellent ministry, inasmuch as He is also Mediator of a better covenant, which was established on better promises.
1 Timothy 2:5 NKJV
5 For there is one God and one Mediator between God and men, the Man Christ Jesus,
