Adam (Last) 1 Corinthians 15:35-49)(key verse 45)
Intro
Intro
When God made man, he put him in the garden of Eden (Genesis 2:8 “And the Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden; and there he put the man whom he had formed.” )(First Adam)
With the Last Adam, When He laid down His life, He was laid in a garden sepulchre.
John 19:40–42 “Then took they the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. Now in the place where he was crucified there was a garden; and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid. There laid they Jesus therefore because of the Jews’ preparation day; for the sepulchre was nigh at hand.”
In fact, when Christ arose, Mary supposed Jesus was the gardener!
When we look at these two Adams (The first and the last Adam), we see what they have given to the world. If we look at both gardens, we’ll see exactly what they gave to man.
The First Adam
The First Adam
Sin
When we look at the first Adam, he knew the word of God.
Genesis 2:16 “And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat:”
Adam knew the word of God, yet he was clearly disobedient to the word of God. He made a conscious decision to disobey God.
1 Timothy 2:14 “And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.”
Because of this willful disobedience to the word of God, sin entered into the world.
Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”
Death
When God commanded Adam not to eat of the fruit of the garden, there was a consequence mentioned if he did eat it.
Genesis 2:17 “But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die.”
We know that as soon as they ate the fruit that they didn’t die physically, but they did die spiritually.
While they would one day die physically as well (Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”), the biggest problem was spiritual death.
Romans 5:14 “Nevertheless death reigned from Adam to Moses, even over them that had not sinned after the similitude of Adam’s transgression, who is the figure of him that was to come.”
If we look at the generations of Adam in Genesis 5, we will see people betting their children, but also death.
In Adam, all die (1 Corinthians 15:22 “For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.” )
All those that have a physical birth are in Adam. Because they are in Adam, they have sin, and because they have sin, they will die physically, but they are already dead spiritually. (We were dead in trespasses and sins)
The Last Adam
The Last Adam
Not Sin, But Righteousness
He is I AM.
There is no sin nor guile in His mouth.
Because of Calvary, the sinless Son of God can give us righteousness!
2 Corinthians 5:21 “For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.”
1 John 3:5 “And ye know that he was manifested to take away our sins; and in him is no sin.”
We can’t keep the law, so we’re under the curse of the law. But thanks be to God, He kept the law, was made a curse for us, and was able to justify the heathen and redeem us from the curse!
Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham. And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed. So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham. For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Romans 5:17–19 “For if by one man’s offence death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness shall reign in life by one, Jesus Christ.) Therefore as by the offence of one judgment came upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one the free gift came upon all men unto justification of life. For as by one man’s disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous.”
That first Adam made us sinners. The last Adam made us saints!
The first Adam brought ruin. The last Adam brought redemption!
The first Adam brought a curse. The last Adam brought a cure!
The first Adam brought sorrow. The last Adam brought salvation!
The first Adam brought condemnation. The last Adam brought commendation!
The first Adam brought rebellion. The last Adam brought reconciliation!
Not death, but life!
The first Adam was made alive but brought death. The last Adam laid down his life and brought life!
Revelation 1:18 “I am he that liveth, and was dead; and, behold, I am alive for evermore, Amen; and have the keys of hell and of death.”
God gave Adam the ability to reproduce physically, but he gave the Son power to to reproduce spiritually!
YE MUST BE BORN AGAIN!
The generations of Jesus Christ give life and you never hear of death!
Adam gives death to a people that are birthed: Christ gives life to those that are dead.
I don’t die because of the things I do, I die because I’m in Adam (in Adam all die). I don’t live because of the things I do, I live because I’m in Christ! (even so in Christ shall all be made alive!)
CHRIST IS THE LAST ADAM. THERE IS NOT ANOTHER!
Not Joseph Smith, Ghandi, Buddah, Muhammed.
There is not another that can give life. CHRIST IS THE LAST ADAM.
