Our prayer theme for today is consistency.
Consistency in prayer.
Lord, help us to stay on the firing line.
Not back in the “safe” area — but right up front.
Right where the action is.
Where the risk is.
We know the devil hates prayer.
He will stop it, distract us from it, forbid it — whatever it takes to keep us from it.
But, in the Name of Jesus, even in 2024, we will seek the Kingdom and God’s will in our day.
Our 2024 prayer theme verse is:
Habakkuk 3:2 (NLT) I have heard all about you, LORD. I am filled with awe by your amazing works. In this time of our deep need, help us again as you did in years gone by. And in your anger, remember your mercy.
As we pray this week I ask us to pray each day.
Fast as much as you can.
Ask God to do what the theme verse says:
First, to help us remember what we have heard about God.
For those of us who have been alive awhile, we have many things about what God has done over the span of human history.
We KNOW He is a miracle working God.
Second, let’s pray that that we would be in awe of God.
In awe of His nature and character.
In awe of His deeds — both those He has already done AND those He has promised to do in the future.
Save the lost.
Come again.
Bring judgment on the earth.
Make a New heavens and New earth.
Third, let’s pray that God will repeat things He has already done:
Let’s pray that we recognize our DEEP NEED for Him — for what He does in the hearts and lives of people.
Miracles of salvation — let’s believe Him for the hardest hearts to be melted.
For the raunchiest of sinners with whom we work, in our neighborhoods, in the news — to be saved.
Miracles of provision.
Miracles of healing.
Miracles of deliverance.
Manifestations of His Presence of His glory.
A fresh outpouring of the Holy Spirit.
Fourth, let’s pray that news of God’s deeds will be spread far and wide.
The NIV says: Repeat [Your deeds] in our day, in our time make them known;
Psalm 85:6–7 (NIV) Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in you? 7 Show us your unfailing love, LORD, and grant us your salvation.
That those who had doubt will be convinced.
That those who wondered about the existence of God would believe and turn to Him for salvation.
Finally, in a day when we deserve the outpouring of His wrath upon our sins — let’s pray for mercy.
Psalm 85:4–5 (NIV) Restore us again, God our Savior, and put away your displeasure toward us. 5 Will you be angry with us forever? Will you prolong your anger through all generations?
