SIGNPOSTS FOR A FRUITFUL NAVIGATION OF 2024

SIGNPOSTS: MARKERS THAT HELP GUIDE YOU TO YOUR DESTINATION. THEY ARE NOT GOING TO TAKE YOU THERE ON THEIR OWN, BUT AS YOU FOLLOW THEM, YOU WILL ARRIVE

1. Seek to Live A Life of Purposeful Possession

Exodus 20:2 ESV
“I am the Lord your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
Exodus 19:4 ESV

DO NOT TREAT HIM AS A SCRUB (VV3-4)

Exodus 20:3–4 ESV
“You shall have no other gods before me. “You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.

DO NOT DISHONOR HIS NAME (V7)

Exodus 20:7 ESV

DO NOT DISHONOR HIS DAY (8-11)

Exodus 20:8–11 ESV
“Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days you shall labor, and do all your work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God. On it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, or your daughter, your male servant, or your female servant, or your livestock, or the sojourner who is within your gates. For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day. Therefore the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

- A Life of Honor to Others (2nd Half)

DO NOT DISHONOR YOUR FATHER AND MOTHER (12)

Exodus 20:12 ESV
“Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land that the Lord your God is giving you.
Ephesians 6:1 ESV
Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.

“You shall not murder.
Matthew 5:21 ESV
“You have heard that it was said to those of old, ‘You shall not murder; and whoever murders will be liable to judgment.’

But I say to you that everyone who is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment; whoever insults his brother will be liable to the council; and whoever says, ‘You fool!’ will be liable to the hell of fire.

DO NOT DISHONOR GOD ORDAINED SEXUALITY (14)

4. Seek to Live A Life of Growth (vv18-21)

Exodus 20:18–21 ESV
Now when all the people saw the thunder and the flashes of lightning and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking, the people were afraid and trembled, and they stood far off and said to Moses, “You speak to us, and we will listen; but do not let God speak to us, lest we die.” Moses said to the people, “Do not fear, for God has come to test you, that the fear of him may be before you, that you may not sin.” The people stood far off, while Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was.
