Evaluation of the Day

For the most part the day was easy going. I accomplished what I had planned for today and I think that taking time to journal is finally taking hold on me.

Feelings

Truthfully, I feel that there were a few things that I should have done today. There is a sense of being to remote and removed from service and feel like I could have been more productive today. I also am having some bouts with suspicion of certain individuals and how they continue to take unwarranted liberties.

Theological Reflections

Two things that caused me to pause and ponder while I had my personal devotion this morning. First, in the text of 2 Kings 9:30-31, Jehu arrived in Jezreel and Jezebel heard that he was there. Even at that critical and crucial juncture she could not control her vanity. The text says she “put makeup on her eyes and adorned her head.” What got me though, was her inquiry concerning the intent of Jehu visit, and the name that she addressed him by. She did not call him Jehu, she called him Zimri. Sometimes will not address you as who you are but who they want you to be. The name Zimri meant “to protect” yet Jehu had not been sent to protect the house of Ahab but to alienate it.
Shall we be called by the name that others have use to control us, or shall be called by the name which the Lord has chosen for us because our hearts are right toward Him.
