Omnipotence Of God

To begin with the term Summon Bonum mean the Highest Good, not the greater good but the Highest Good. God is the Highest Good. 3x Deuteronomy 6:5  And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. 6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. 9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

* The Lord said to me “Whatever words I tell you in your night season write down what I say. God said Tell them That you love the Lord your God.

I heard the Lord plain and clear “get up and start studying”. Study what Lord. God told me I’ll put my word in your heart and in your mind. Allen I put my Word in all of the Preachers Priests Poimans and Pastors just like I do you.

And so when you end up thinking of the same scripture as another man or woman of God and y’all didn’t talk before hand, then just flow with it because that’s the direction God wants the church to go in.

And so we can’t Love God as the scripture says unless we at least get to know something about God. And as we begin with

“The On the Go in 24” series Let’s deal with the Omnipotence and the Know-ability of God.

The question is Can we really know God? Because I often time say Oh how I love Jesus because He first loved me. And John 3:16 For God so Loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Alright 3x God loves us and in the Trinity we have one God in three persons “ God the Father, “ God the Son”, and “God the Holy Ghost” One God in three persons.

AND I’ve taught you that our salvation is a trinitarian act.

1. God the Father planned our salvation back in eternity past,

2. God the Son bought our salvation back in time on a hill called Calvary, and

3. God the Holy Spirit sealed our fate on the day of Pentecost.

And so that’s one of the ways that God reveals Himself to humankind.

Listen if I am supposed to as the scripture say in Deut. 6:5 And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might.

I’ve got to love God with all my heart. Then I need to KNOW some things about Him. It’s not too hard but you got dig.Romans 1:19 (KJV 1900)Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. the evil and wrong things people do. By their own evil lives they hide the truth.

NCV 19 God shows his anger because some knowledge of him has been made clear to them. Yes, God has shown himself to them.

I‘d hate to reveal why God had to reveal Himself in this Roman text this way but it’s an age old problem that the children of Israel had. The Children of Israel represented Humankind. Mankind was always in his /her self. From the NCV Romans 1: 20 There are things about him that people cannot see—his eternal power and all the things that make him God. But since the beginning of the world those things have been easy to understand by what God has made. So people have no excuse for the bad things they do. 21 They knew God, but they did not give glory to God or thank him. Their thinking became useless. Their foolish minds were filled with darkness. 22 They said they were wise, but they became fools. 23 They traded the glory of God who lives forever for the worship of idols made to look like earthly people, birds, animals, and snakes. 24 Because they did these things, God left them and let them go their sinful way, wanting only to do evil. As a result, they became full of sexual sin, using their bodies wrongly with each other. 25 They traded the truth of God for a lie. They worshiped and served what had been created instead of the God who created those things, who should be praised forever. Amen.26 Because people did those things, God left them and let them do the shameful things they wanted to do. Women stopped having natural sex and started having sex with other women. 27 In the same way, men stopped having natural sex and began wanting each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and in their bodies they received the punishment for those wrongs. 28 People did not think it was important to have a true knowledge of God. So God left them and allowed them to have their own worthless thinking and to do things they should not do. 29 They are filled with every kind of sin, evil, selfishness, and hatred. They are full of jealousy, murder, fighting, lying, and thinking the worst about each other. They gossip. 30 and say evil things about each other. They hate God. They are rude and conceited and brag about themselves. They invent ways of doing evil. They do not obey their parents. 31 They are foolish, they do not keep their promises, and they show no kindness or mercy to others. 32 They know God’s law says that those who live like this should die. But they themselves not only continue to do these evil things, they applaud others who do them.

People were so sinful back then, and what’s worst a lot of people aren’t any better today in fact worst.

In 2024 after receiving this message, we you can’t go back to business as usual. It’s a new year. We have to be “On the go in 24.”

It’s a soul searching moment as we are on the quest to define the Omnipotence of God with the sub title the Knowability of God. God revealed Himself to Human kind through His mighty act, and through the pages of scriptures.

And so again what is the Sonum bonum. The Highest Good. I understand that I can never fully understand God. But the Old folk use to say but I’ll understand it better by and by.

Listen to me if any! Preacher, Pastor, Priest, or Poiman ever tell you that they go the lock down on the 411 about God and can tell you that they know all about God !!!THEY LYING!!! Period. Listen brothers and sisters Scholars study years even lifetimes and in their final moments they say There’s so many wonderful about Jesus So many wonderful thing that I’ll never know it all. In fact when we get to heaven we will spend eternity learning new stuff about God each and every day.

Psalms 145:1 I will extol thee, my God, O king; and I will bless thy name for ever and ever. 2 Every day will I bless thee; and I will praise thy name for ever and ever. 3 Great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised; and his greatness is unsearchable. 4 One generation shall praise thy works to another, and shall declare thy mighty acts. 5 I will speak of the glorious honour of thy majesty, and of thy wondrous works. 6 And men shall speak of the might of thy terrible acts: and I will declare thy greatness. 7 They shall abundantly utter the memory of thy great goodness, and shall sing of thy righteousness. 8 The LORD is gracious, and full of compassion; slow to anger, and of great mercy. 9 The LORD is good to all: and his tender mercies are over all his works.

Brothers and sisters you want to see God through David’s eyes. OH YES INDEED “David knew how to lift Him Up! David would put us right in the living room in God’s Presence. David knew how to exalt God’s name God might acts and Listen in verse 3 God’s unsearchable greatness. And what that means is that we are finite and God is infinite. We are limited but God is unlimited. We have a start date and an end date but God has no date in fact it was God who created the concept of time so that we could know Him in the Power of His Glory.

That’s what excites me but also its what ercks people who don’t submit to God’s Will God’s Work and God’s Way. I’m smart enough to know that I need God in my life. And it’s wise not to be overly wise, it’s not good to think too highly of yourself. Look at Jeremiah 9:23-24 23 This is what the LORD says: “The wise must not brag about their wisdom.The strong must not brag about their strength.The rich must not brag about their money.24  But if people want to brag, let them brag that they understand and know me.Let them brag that I am the LORD,and that I am kind and fair,and that I do things that are right on earth.This kind of bragging pleases me,” says the LORD. This kind of bragging pleases me,” says the LORD.

KJV23 Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches: 24 But let him that glorieth glory in this, that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the LORD which exercise lovingkindness, judgment, and righteousness, in the earth: for in these things I delight, saith the LORD.

GW 23 This is what the LORD says: Don’t let wise people brag about their wisdom. Don’t let strong people brag about their strength. Don’t let rich people brag about their riches. 24 If they want to brag, they should brag that they understand and know me. They should brag that I, the LORD, act out of love, righteousness, and justice on the earth.This kind of bragging pleases me, declares the LORD. 

And what this means from all the different translations is that some attributes of God are incommunicable. Some things God does not share. God does not share His Omnipotence, Omniscience, or His Omnipresence. And when humankind trys to be as Philosopher Nieche said Man is his own god, then it offends God to the very essence to the very core and the depths of Who God really is.

God is all powerful. Omnipotent God is The Self existing One Psalms 102:25-27 Wait before I go to that Psalms, Just Listen 1. Elohim- The Mighty Creator In Genesis 1:1…

2 Atik Yomin Daniel 7:9 the Ancient of Days.....

3. El Qadosh…In Isaiah 57:15 The Holy One

4.El Haggadol..in Deut.10:17 The Great God...

5. El Shaddai The All Sufficient One , God Almighty.Genesis 17:1 God’s majestic strength.

God is All Powerful. Meaning God is Omnipotent. And Listen with such a powerful God we must understand that God does not change. And just because we use terms like God is a Rock in the wearied land shelter in the time of a storm etc these are only avenues and lanes and blvds and highways and interstates that allow us to get to know God.

God is so great and so powerful until he allowed us to know Him through the use of Anthropomorphic Language. Stay with me, 3x Anthropomorphic Language means language that speaks of God in Human terms. You know that John 4:24 Says that God is a spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and in Truth.

And so why does God attributes individual names to himself.... To reflect some of the true aspects of his character. Many of these names are taken from human experiences or human emotions or conditions to describe something true about God. Let me prove it.

1. God is a Lion Isa.31:4

2. God is an Eagle Deut. 32:11

3. God is a Lamb Isa. 53:7

4. God is a Hen Matt.23:37

5. God is the Sun Ps. 84:11

6. God is The Morning Star Rev. 22:16

7. God is a Light Ps 27:1

8. God is a Torch Rev. 21:23

9. God is a Fire Heb.12:29

10. God is a Fountain Ps. 36:9

11. God is a Rock Deut. 32:4

12. God is a Hiding Place Ps. 119:114

13. God is a Tower Prov. 18:10

14. God is a Moth Ps. 39:11

15. God is a Shadow Ps 91:1

16. God is a Shield Ps. 84:11

17. God is a Temple Rev. 21:22

18. God is the Bridegroom Isa. 61:10

19. God is a Husband Isa. 54:5

20. God is a Father Deut. 32:6 And so if you were to make an observation you would conclude that God had to lower down His voltage ( His Omnipotence) His Power just so we could get to know Him.

When I was going to Capital City Religious Institute Dr. NT Calvin taught us to importance of getting to know God as He reveals Himself to us. Get this now on our own level 3x.

Scripture uses Anthropomorphic Language of the Human Body parts to describe God’s Activities in a metaphorical way.

For Example:

1. God’s Face or Countenance (Exodus 33:20,23; 20 And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live. 21 And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock: 22 And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by: 23 And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen.

Then in Isa 63:9 . 9 In all their affliction he was afflicted, and the angel of his presence( God’s Countenance) saved them: in his love and in his pity he redeemed them; and he bare them, and carried them all the days of old.

Psalm 16:11 Thou wilt shew me the path of life: in thy presence (God’s Countenance)is fulness of joy; at thy right hand there are pleasures for evermore. Rev 22:4 1 And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb. 2 In the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river, was there the tree of life, which bare twelve manner of fruits, and yielded her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations. 3 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him: 4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads. 5 And there shall be no night there; and they need no candle, neither light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever. I know the emphasis is on the anthropomorphic feature of God’s Face and God’s Countenance but I just couldn’t pass up the glorious wonderful majestic magnificent language in the text as it teaches talks and tells us about what’s in Heaven. Can we pause and just be thankful grateful and appreciative for the great effort and efficiency of God’s preparation for His Creation. And to stay on target let’s look at verse 4.

2. God’s Eyes Teaches about the Justice of God Ps 11:4 The LORD is in his holy temple, the LORD'S throne is in heaven: his eyes behold, his eyelids try, the children of men. 5 The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth. 6 Upon the wicked he shall rain snares, fire and brimstone, and an horrible tempest: this shall be the portion of their cup. 7 For the righteous LORD loveth righteousness; his countenance doth behold the upright. Heb 4:13 13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of him with whom we have to do. 14 Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. 15 For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. 16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

3. God’s Ears Psalm 55:1 Give ear to my prayer, O God; and hide not thyself from my supplication. 2 Attend unto me, and hear me: I mourn in my complaint, and make a noise;

Isa 59:1 Behold, the LORD'S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear: 2 But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear.

I was looking up the ears of God to display further proof of the Omnipotence of God but as I discovered in this text the writer Isaiah is saying that God will not hear you because you won’t stop messing up.

4. God’s Nose Deuteronomy 33:10 10  He teaches your laws to the people of Jacob and your teachings to the people of Israel.He burns incense before you and makes whole burnt offerings on your altar. And as Judy Judy would say your statement has to pass the smell test.

5. God’s Mouth Deuteronomy 8:1 All the commandments which I command thee this day shall ye observe to do, that ye may live, and multiply, and go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers. 2 And thou shalt remember all the way which the LORD thy God led thee these forty years in the wilderness, to humble thee, and to prove thee, to know what was in thine heart, whether thou wouldest keep his commandments, or no. 3 And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

Wait nah I’ve seen this before in Matthew 4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. 4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God Amen

6.God’s Lips Job 11:4 For thou hast said, My doctrine is pure, and I am clean in thine eyes. 5 But oh that God would speak, and open his lips against thee; 6 And that he would shew thee the secrets of wisdom, that they are double to that which is! Know therefore that God exacteth of thee less than thine iniquity deserveth. I know what I’m researching is the anthropomorphic language of the Lips of God, but I considering that it’s Job’s so called friends talking about him as they describe God’s Lips. Friends like that you don’t need no enemies.

7. God’s Tongue Isa 30:27 Behold, the name of the LORD cometh from far, burning with his anger, and the burden thereof is heavy: his lips are full of indignation, and his tongue as a devouring fire: 28 And his breath, as an overflowing stream, shall reach to the midst of the neck, to sift the nations with the sieve of vanity: and there shall be a bridle in the jaws of the people, causing them to err.

8. God’s Neck Jer 18:17 I will scatter them as with an east wind before the enemy; I will shew them the back, and not the face, in the day of their calamity.

9. God’s Arm Ex 15:16 Fear and dread shall fall upon them; by the greatness of thine arm they shall be as still as a stone; till thy people pass over, O LORD, till the people pass over, which thou hast purchased. If you go back into the beginning of this story you’ll find out all over again how God led the children of Israel through the Red Sea on dry land and how Pharaoh's army drowned in the Red Sea. The bible adds specificity to the statement by saying How Great God’s Arm is the Strength of God’s Arm is in reference to the Omnipotence of God. Meaning that God is All Powerful.

10. God’s Num 11:23 And the LORD said unto Moses, Is the LORD'S hand waxed short? thou shalt see now whether my word shall come to pass unto thee or not. Moses is complaining to God on How the job is too much and too big and God appoint him deacons to help.

11. God’s Finger Ex 8:16 And the LORD said unto Moses, Say unto Aaron, Stretch out thy rod, and smite the dust of the land, that it may become lice throughout all the land of Egypt. 17 And they did so; for Aaron stretched out his hand with his rod, and smote the dust of the earth, and it became lice in man, and in beast; all the dust of the land became lice throughout all the land of Egypt. 18 And the magicians did so with their enchantments to bring forth lice, but they could not: so there were lice upon man, and upon beast. 19 Then the magicians said unto Pharaoh, This is the finger of God: and Pharaoh's heart was hardened, and he hearkened not unto them; as the LORD had said.

12. God’s Heart Genesis 6:6 And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart. 7 And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them.Noah finds grace 8 But Noah grace in the eyes of the LORD.

13. God’s Foot Isa 66:1 Thus saith the LORD, The heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool: where is the house that ye build unto me? and where is the place of my rest?

All of those terms are terms that describe personal characteristics of God through human eyes and experiences furthermore terms such as good merciful gracious righteous holy just kind etc are terms that are familiar to the human experience.

In other words these are terms that God uses to lower His voltage for human consumption. God has to come down some some we can reach up enough to know Him. Because in the Know-ability of God the key is being able to establish a real relationship with the True and Living God.

And Listen folks God tried to connect with human kind during the days of Noah but mankind started doing every imaginable wicked thing they wanted to. God told Noah to build an ARK out of gopher wood. 450 ft long 75 ft wide and 45 ft tall. Noah called all the animals to the Ark two by two male and female. Then God showed His Omnipotent Power in Genesis 7. let’s turn there. It’s sad that God had to show His Power because of Humankind’s Disobedience.

Then with Abraham and Lot and Sodom and Gomorrah how God destroyed the two cities because of wickedness.

Then in Exodus God showed us His Omnipotent Power with the situation concerning Hebrew slavery. Egyptian had began to treat God’s people cruel.

Then with Joshua at Jericho God displayed His Omnipotence when He made time stand still.

Then God showed His Omnipotence with Daniel in the lion’s den and the Hebrew boys in the fiery furnace.

Then God showed on Mt Carmel through the prophet Elijah when fire came down from heaven in a tornado and showed that Jehovah adonai is the true and living God and that baal was a fake false god that had no power.

God’s Power Deuteronomy 3: 24 “Almighty LORD, you have ⸤only⸥ begun to show me how great and powerful you are. What kind of god is there in heaven or on earth who can do the deeds and the mighty acts you have done?

Isaiah 43:13 13  “From the ⸤first⸥ day I was the one ⸤who did this⸥. No one can rescue people from my power. When I do something, who can undo it?” 

Matthew 19:26 26 Jesus looked at them and said, “It is impossible for people ⸤to save themselves⸥, but everything is possible for God.” 

Mark 10:27 27 Jesus looked at them and said, “It’s impossible for people ⸤to save themselves⸥, but it’s not impossible for God to save them. Everything is possible for God.” 

Luke 6:17 Many People Are Cured—

Mark 3:7–1217 Jesus came down from the mountain with them and stood on a level place. A large crowd of his disciples and many other people were there. They had come from all over Judea, Jerusalem, and the seacoast of Tyre and Sidon.

Luke 6:18 18 They wanted to hear him and be cured of their diseases. Those who were tormented by evil spirits were cured.

Luke 6:19 19 The entire crowd was trying to touch him because power was coming from him and curing all of them. 

1 Corinthians 1:18 18 The message about the cross is nonsense to those who are being destroyed, but it is God’s power to us who are being saved.

2 Corinthians 4:7 7 Our bodies are made of clay, yet we have the treasure of the Good News in them. This shows that the superior power of this treasure belongs to God and doesn’t come from us.

Ephesians 3:2020 Glory belongs to God, whose power is at work in us. By this power he can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine.

Revelation 11:16 16 Then the 24 leaders, who were sitting on their thrones in God’s presence, immediately bowed, worshiped God,

Revelation 11:17 17 and said,  “We give thanks to you, Lord God Almighty, who is and who was, because you have taken your great power and have begun ruling as king. 

Revelation 19:6 6 I heard what sounded like the noise from a large crowd, like the noise of raging waters, like the noise of loud thunder, saying, “Hallelujah! The Lord our God, the Almighty, has become king. GOD’S WORD Translation (Grand Rapids: Baker Publishing Group, 1995), Dt 3:24–Re 19:6.
