Holy Spirit

John 16:7 ESV

7 Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.

He is a Person

Jesus presents the Holy Spirit as a person who will take His place here on earth.

Holy Spirit isn’t someone you use but someone you know.

Holy Spirit is a divine person.

2. Remember that the Holy Spirit wants to have a relationship with you more that you want to have with Him.

2 Corinthians 13:14 ESV

14 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.

3. Read the Word. Feed on the Word

2 Timothy 3:16 ESV

16 All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness,

The Holy Spirit moved on holy men to write the scripture.

Holy Spirit clearly put in scripture what grieves and frustrates Him, and what gives Him joy.

Proverbs 20:27 ESV

27 The spirit of man is the lamp of the Lord, searching all his innermost parts.

Talk to and communicate to Him every day from your heart.

5. Keep your heart soft towards Him.

Psalm 51:10 ESV

10 Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me.

A baby skin type of heart. A soft heart.

Matthew 5:8 ESV

8 “Blessed are the pure in heart, for they shall see God.

Soft and clean and integrity

Psalm 78:72 ESV

72 With upright heart he shepherded them and guided them with his skillful hand.

We want more of His presence but for some of us if we only decrease the leakage.

More than fasting, giving, and spending long prayer times in the closet be concerned about the state of your heart.
