John 7:37-39
Dying of thirst. Illustration - hiking the trail opposite a volcano. Surrounded by the destruction that such an eruption can cause.
Feeling the need for more water, but you are so water logged that drinking more is painful. It is not accomplishing what you wanted. I remember lying there along the trail, probably 8 miles from my destination, wondering how much it really cost to get helicoptered out of the mountains. Maybe it was worth it?
John 7:37–39 (LEB)
Now on the last day of the feast—the great day—Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone is thirsty, let him come to me, and let him drink, the one who believes in me. Just as the scripture said, ‘Out of his belly will flow rivers of living water.’ ” (Now he said this concerning the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were about to receive. For the Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus had not yet been glorified.)
Matthew 5:6 “Blessed are the ones who hunger and thirst for righteousness, because they will be satisfied.”
The question - how will this one be satisfied?
