Being prepared

Japan on new years day had a 7.5 magnatude earthquake strike! killing 92 people and reducing buildings to rubble!

Japan experienced nearly 1,500 earth quakes a year! they have to live in a constant state of readiness because they don’t know when the next one will strike without warning!

The bible speaks to us to be ready as well, but not in regards to a natural disaster, but the reality that one day we all will stand before a Holy and Just God!

James 4:14 (ESV) — 14 yet you do not know what tomorrow will bring. What is your life? For you are a mist that appears for a little time and then vanishes.

I. Our Urgent Need

1. Bible says all have sin Romans 3:23 (ESV) — 23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

a. Sin is live how you want to live instead of how God has called you to live. forms of sin Lying, stealing, hate, pride, envy, sex out side of marriage!

b. sin results in shame/bondage not being able to stop John 8:34 (ESV) — 34 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, everyone who practices sin is a slave to sin.

2. Sin’s cost

a. Sin will result in destruction in your relationships. destroys family's/marriage/friendships. there are people here that live with regret, self hatred because of things you have done/said.

b. the ultimate price for sin is death. Romans 6:23 (ESV) — 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Once we die we are going to stand before God and give an account of how we have lived on earth. No matter how good we think we are sin will cause us to be separated from God for all eternity.

II. Answer for Sin

1. Jesus Christ John 3:16 (ESV) — 16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.

a. Jesus came to earth and lived a sinless life! Jesus said He had the power to heal people/provide for people needs/He even said he could forgive peoples sin! Something only God can do!
