Ephesians 2:19–22 NKJV
Now, therefore, you are no longer strangers and foreigners, but fellow citizens with the saints and members of the household of God, having been built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ Himself being the chief cornerstone, in whom the whole building, being fitted together, grows into a holy temple in the Lord, in whom you also are being built together for a dwelling place of God in the Spirit.
Being built on a foundation by sent ones(apostles) & prophets
The Cornerstone: Jesus Christ the cornerstone on which all the building depends
*What is a Cornerstone: Its an Architectural term used twice in the New Testament (Eph. 2:20; 1 Peter 2:6) to speak of the exalted Jesus as the chief foundation stone of the church, the cornerstone on which all the building depends. The New Testament draws on two Old Testament passages about the coming Messiah
Zechariah 10:4 “From him comes the cornerstone, From him the tent peg, From him the battle bow, From him every ruler together.”
1 Corinthians 3:11 “For no other foundation can anyone lay than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”
Its Important to understand that in our day just like in the early days of the church many were trying to move them away from this foundation.
Jesus is the only thing you can build your life on which will have lasting and eternal value
But many, even some Christians have rejected this understanding even in our day.
Psalm 118:22 “The stone which the builders rejected Has become the chief cornerstone.”
You can see how important it is to grasp this idea throughout scripture of building the right foundation, which is only in and through Jesus Christ.
Were being fitted together to grow into a Holy temple in the Lord.
Being Built as a dwelling place for God in The Spirit

The Old Testament temple restoration project

A Shadow and Type

Shadows and types in the Old testament give us a deeper understanding of The New Testament and how it relates to us in The Body of Christ as we walk in The Spirit
The Prophets gave spiritual direction & encouraged the nation of Israel to once again build the temple of The Lord in spite of opposition.
Haggai 2:1 NKJV
In the seventh month, on the twenty-first of the month, the word of the Lord came by Haggai the prophet, saying:
Ezra 5:1–2 NKJV
Then the prophet Haggai and Zechariah the son of Iddo, prophets, prophesied to the Jews who were in Judah and Jerusalem, in the name of the God of Israel, who was over them. So Zerubbabel the son of Shealtiel and Jeshua the son of Jozadak rose up and began to build the house of God which is in Jerusalem; and the prophets of God were with them, helping them.
Just before these verses the nation of Isreal was opposed, discouraged, and fearful when it came to building up the temple and setting up its foundations.
Just like they experienced these emotions and real-life hindrances we also can go through these things in seasons in our lives
Remember the temple of God now is me and you, and daily we are building up our lives to please The Lord
