How many of you remember playing the game, Simon Says.”
Do you remember the rules.
Yes.
Okay, let’s play a quick game.
Go ahead and stand up.
Simon says, puts your hands in the air.
Simon says, put your hands down.
Simon says, put your hands over your eyes.
Put your hand on your ears.
Simon did not say it.
Now, you can sit down.
I remember as a child, I loved that games.
All the kids of the neighborhood would gather in our back yard on a cool summer’s evening, and we would play, Simon Says for hours.
We would still be playing after the sun had gone down, and it was so dark we could barely see each other.
Can you guess which position we all wanted? Yes. We wanted to be Simon.
I liked be Simon, but I could not see myself saying what Paul said.
Did you hear what he said.
Brethren, join in following my example, and observe those who walk according to the pattern you have in us.
Paul did not say just look at me, watch me, observe me.
No, he said, “follow me example.” He said, “Imitate me.”
Make me your example, your model.
