LEGACY
The long-lasting impact of particular events, actions, etc. that took place in the past, or of a person’s life.
ALEX CAGLE STORY —— CAGLED
I WANT A LEGACY THAT LASTS — ONE THAT LEAVES AN IMPACT
I WANT MY LEGACY TO BE IN THE THINGS THAT ARE UNSEEN
What is unseen has the biggest impact
What is unseen is the kingdom of God
What is unseen is changed lives
What is unseen is spiritual growth
Chains being broken, Addictions beat and relationships restored.
There may be outward signs but theres an even greater unseen impact
THERE IS A SPIRITUAL BATTLE GOING ON —— ONE THAT IS UNSEEN - A BATTLE FOR YOUR SPIRITUAL GROWTH - FIGHTING FOR AND AGAINST YOU
2 Kings 6:15–17 CSB
15 When the servant of the man of God got up early and went out, he discovered an army with horses and chariots surrounding the city. So he asked Elisha, “Oh, my master, what are we to do?” 16 Elisha said, “Don’t be afraid, for those who are with us outnumber those who are with them.” 17 Then Elisha prayed, “Lord, please open his eyes and let him see.” So the Lord opened the servant’s eyes, and he saw that the mountain was covered with horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha.
2 Corinthians 4:18 CSB
18 So we do not focus on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
LOVING GOD
LOVING OTHERS
MAKING AN IMPACT
THIS IS ALMOST AN EQUATION. LOVING GOD + LOVING PEOPLE = MAKING AN IMPACT
Mark 12:28–31 CSB
28 One of the scribes approached. When he heard them debating and saw that Jesus answered them well, he asked him, “Which command is the most important of all?” 29 Jesus answered, “The most important is Listen, Israel! The Lord our God, the Lord is one. 30 Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind, and with all your strength. 31 The second is, Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no other command greater than these.”
Proverbs 3:5–6 CSB
5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not rely on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways know him, and he will make your paths straight.
A GRATEFUL HEART
IM A BIG GIFT GIVER. WHEN I BUY SOMEONE A CHRISTMAS OR BIRTHDAY GIFT I WANT TO TELL THEM RIGHT AWAY
It could be months before Christmas and im like ….. … “Wanna know what I got you?”
THE REASON IS THAT I LOVE SEEING PEOPLES REACTION. I LOVE A BIG GIFT REACTION. TO SEE SOMEONE BE SO EXCITED FOR WHAT I GOT THEM.
KEEPING A GRATEFUL HEART IS KEY TO LOVING GOD
Because when you are grateful you are remembering and looking back on what has been done for you. When life get’s hard… i choose to be grateful …
When things are going wrong, I choose to be grateful
WHEN IM PRAYING AND ASKING GOD TO DO SOMETHING ONLY HE CAN DO, I LOOK BACK ON WHAT HE’S ALREADY DONE
John 12:1 CSB
1 Six days before the Passover, Jesus came to Bethany where Lazarus was, the one Jesus had raised from the dead.
GRATITUDE JOURNAL —— CALENDAR SET TO REPEAT YEARLY ON BIG EVENTS
QUALITY TIME
CHRISTMAS SEASON - IT’S EASY TO FOCUS ON WHAT IT’S BECOME NOT WHAT IT’S ACTUALLY ABOUT
ARE YOU SPENDING QUALITY TIME WITH JESUS DAILY? ARE YOU IN GOD’S WORD? ARE YOU PRAYING? It’s so simple but it’s probably to most underrated and most dropped thing that believers do.
Luke 10:38–42 CSB
38 While they were traveling, he entered a village, and a woman named Martha welcomed him into her home. 39 She had a sister named Mary, who also sat at the Lord’s feet and was listening to what he said. 40 But Martha was distracted by her many tasks, and she came up and asked, “Lord, don’t you care that my sister has left me to serve alone? So tell her to give me a hand.” 41 The Lord answered her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, 42 but one thing is necessary. Mary has made the right choice, and it will not be taken away from her.”
WHEN YOU SPEND TIME WITH GOD YOU BUILD A SPIRITUAL LEGACY
WHEN YOUR FAMILY KNOWS YOU SPEND TIME WITH GOD - LEGACY
WHEN YOUR KIDS SEE THEIR MOM NEVER SKIPS THEIR TIME WITH GOD - LEGACY
WHEN YOUR WIFE KNOWS THEIR HUSBAND ALWAYS PRAYS FIRST - LEGACY
NOTHING WILL GET IN THE WAY OF MY DAILY TIME WITH GOD - MAKE THAT DECISION
WAKE UP 5 MIN EARLIER - READ AND PRAY DURING YOUR LUNCH BREAK - FIND THE TIME IN YOUR ROUTINE WHERE GOD NEVER GET’S MOVED FROM
WORSHIP AT ALL TIMES
Romans 12:1 CSB
1 Therefore, brothers and sisters, in view of the mercies of God, I urge you to present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God; this is your true worship.
LIVING YOUR LIFE AS A SACRIFICE TO GOD
DOES YOUR LIFE LOOK DIFFERENT BECAUSE YOU FOLLOW JESUS?
Are your priorities different? Does your day look different? But most importantly are you willing to sacrifice whatever God wants you to give up?
ARE YOU WILLING TO SACRIFICE THAT TIME IN YOUR DAY TO SPEND WITH GOD?
ARE YOU WILLING TO SACRIFICE AND GIVE UP THAT SIN THAT YOU HOLD ON TO AND PULL OUT WHEN THINGS GET HARD
ARE YOU WILLING TO POUR OUT YOUR WORSHIP ON JESUS NO MATTER WHAT IT COSTS YOU — THIS IS THE LEGACY I WANT TO LEAVE
John 12:3–8 CSB
3 Then Mary took a pound of perfume, pure and expensive nard, anointed Jesus’s feet, and wiped his feet with her hair. So the house was filled with the fragrance of the perfume. 4 Then one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot (who was about to betray him), said, 5 “Why wasn’t this perfume sold for three hundred denarii and given to the poor?” 6 He didn’t say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief. He was in charge of the money-bag and would steal part of what was put in it. 7 Jesus answered, “Leave her alone; she has kept it for the day of my burial. 8 For you always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me.”
THIS WOMAN DECIDES TO POUR OUT THIS EXPENSIVE THING ON JESUS — BECAUSE HE’S WORTH IT TO HER - THIS SEEMS RECKLESS - THIS SEEMS UNNECESSARY - THIS SEEMS ODD BUT TO HER… … IT WAS HER BEST GIVEN TO HER SAVIOR
HE HAD RAISED LAZARUS - SHE WAS GRATEFUL
SHE SPENT QUALITY TIME WITH HIM BECAUSE SHE WAS GRATEFUL
AND SHE USED THAT TIME TO WORSHIP
AND HER LEGACY LIVES ON - WHENEVER THE GOSPEL
Matthew 26:8–13 CSB
8 When the disciples saw it, they were indignant. “Why this waste?” they asked. 9 “This might have been sold for a great deal and given to the poor.” 10 Aware of this, Jesus said to them, “Why are you bothering this woman? She has done a noble thing for me. 11 You always have the poor with you, but you do not always have me. 12 By pouring this perfume on my body, she has prepared me for burial. 13 Truly I tell you, wherever this gospel is proclaimed in the whole world, what she has done will also be told in memory of her.”
