The 2-fold nature of man

Galatians 5:16-26

We are born in a sin nature.
The Spirit acts upon the soul as the revealer of spiritual truth, as the giver of spiritual power.
There must be cooperation on our part (no tampering with evil).
There is a two-fold nature of man (these 2 natures war against each other).
Romans 7:14–25 (NASB95)
2 Corinthians 10:3–6 (NASB95)
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh,
for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.
We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ,
and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.
That’s why we get into God’s Word.
We must snooze or be idle.
James 1:13–15 (NASB95)
Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am being tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone.
But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust.
Then when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when sin is accomplished, it brings forth death.

We must grow to hate evil.
We need to die not try—die to sin.
If we try to fight it on our own, we are going to do it again.
We need to surrender complete control to Christ.
We have freedom in Christ.
Galatians 5:1 (NASB95)
It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to a yoke of slavery.
Sin is hostile toward God.
Sin prevents us from loving God.
We must kill the sin in our lives.
We must realize sin is sin.
Crucified means put to death—there is a separation.
Affections and lust are our sinful desires.
They war against the soul.
We need the help of the Holy Spirit.
Colossians 2:9–12 (NASB95)
For in Him all the fullness of Deity dwells in bodily form,
and in Him you have been made complete, and He is the head over all rule and authority;
and in Him you were also circumcised with a circumcision made without hands, in the removal of the body of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ;
having been buried with Him in baptism, in which you were also raised up with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead.
Jesus is the master surgeon with the scalpel.
It’s only through faith we get the victory.
God wants us exhausted in the flesh.
We no longer fear the flesh.
The flesh is trying to usurp the Spirit in you.
The moment you put faith in Christ you are saved.
It’s a decision we must make.
We must be willing to give all to Jesus in order to forget these
things that hinder us in knowing Christ.
