Romans 6:23

The dual problem is "sin" and "sins."

Two needs arise;

Forgiveness for the Penalty of my sins 

Deliverance from the Power of my sins

In ch. 5 "sin" occurs 4 times. 5:12-13, 20-21

These are the PARTS of sin that are dealt with:

I. The CONCEPTION of " sin."

Romans 5:12 “Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:”

II. The CONTRAPTION of "sin."

Romans 5:13 “(For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.”

III. The CONVICTION of “sin”.

Romans 5:20 “Moreover the law entered, that the offence might abound. But where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:”

IV. The CONCLUSION of “sin”.

Romans 5:21 “That as sin hath reigned unto death, even so might grace reign through righteousness unto eternal life by Jesus Christ our Lord.”

Our Accuser: Satan.

Revelation 12:10 “And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.”

Our Accomplish: People. Romans 3:9 “What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;”

Our Acceptance: The Saviour. Romans 5:8–9

8 But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.

9 Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.
