I was running down the road, trying to loosen my load…………
GO GO GO….…
Self imposed pressure to perform.
BUT…..…We can’t risk not appearing like “Good Christians”, so we try not to look like we are worried.
We end up like Ducks……Calm on top, but paddling like crazy on the bottom.
OR
The FLU
I worked most of the week. Get up. Take medicine, go to work, survive, come home take more meds, go to bed.
In the mean time, we had one room carpeted, so there was a huge mess in the living room, Christmas was still up…..… So physically we were quiet, but we were feeling anxious.
“They’ve got it all together.”
Psalm 46 NASB95
For the choir director. A Psalm of the sons of Korah, set to Alamoth. A Song. 1 God is our refuge and strength, A very present help in trouble. 2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth should change And though the mountains slip into the heart of the sea; 3 Though its waters roar and foam, Though the mountains quake at its swelling pride. Selah. 4 There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God, The holy dwelling places of the Most High. 5 God is in the midst of her, she will not be moved; God will help her when morning dawns. 6 The nations made an uproar, the kingdoms tottered; He raised His voice, the earth melted. 7 The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah. 8 Come, behold the works of the Lord, Who has wrought desolations in the earth. 9 He makes wars to cease to the end of the earth; He breaks the bow and cuts the spear in two; He burns the chariots with fire. 10 “Cease striving and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” 11 The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our stronghold. Selah.
Jesus was teaching and he stopped an prayed:
Matthew 11:25 NASB95
25 At that time Jesus said, “I praise You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and intelligent and have revealed them to infants.
Matthew 11:26 NASB95
26 “Yes, Father, for this way was well-pleasing in Your sight.
So much for those that have it all together.
Matthew 11:27 NASB95
27 “All things have been handed over to Me by My Father; and no one knows the Son except the Father; nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and anyone to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.
THREE THINGS:
You don’t get to brag about how many people you have led to the Lord.
The pressure to evangelize the World is all self imposed.
Make disciples:
Matthew 11:28–30 NASB95
28 “Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 “Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. 30 “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
YOKE - the piece of implement that connects the animal to the plow, or wagon, or whatever they are pulling.
NT. Always figurative. Always means a burden.
Romans had put a YOKE on the people.
The YOKE of the Law.
JESUS’ invitation is this:
He had revealed Himself to you.
He is inviting you to be a follower of HIM.
The rest is for your SOULS.
Our Saturday.
There was a lot to be done. Stuff was everywhere, but we got up, feeling a little better and made the bed.
Then we just quietly plodded along.
Had an ATT technician at the house, so we had to wait on him for a while.
Then we went and got TACO Bell.
Took a nap.
Got stuff put up.
Didn’t get everything done, but got enough that we sat down in peace.
Matthew 11:30 NASB95
30 “For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
