Me

Story of getting elected to the class presidency in College
I was chosen to represent my class
Celebrating and feeling guilty
Interactive Element: What is a time that you were chosen and you knew that meant someone else wouldn’t be?

We

We’ve all had some experience deep down of not being chosen
for the job
to play on varsity
To get the scholarship
To love someone dearly and yet not feel chosen by them
It feel special to be chosen
being seen as the one that
Out of all of the people to be selected for something and to be chosen
Being chosen feels good
Beaming with happiness waiting to tell people
Everyone feels good about being chosen
Whatever it is
To be chosen to teach others

We choose selectively

Car based off of their gas mileage - or maybe because it looks cool
Colleges - based off of the programs and professors, and tuition that they have
Friends - based off of

God Operates Differently than that

We make choices selectively but God makes choices unconditionally.

God chooses you

Ephesians 1:4 NRSV
4 just as he chose us in Christ before the foundation of the world to be holy and blameless before him in love.
The passage takes us to the beginning of time at creation
Where from the begining God loves you and God chooses you

God chooses the people who you don’t choose

We need to understand that we are God’s chosen one’s even when the world does not choose us
We are not only called but we are, the scripture says destined for adoption
What a sacred thing
Not just a good friend of God
But Chosen and brought fully into the family of God
It is in our nature to see differences among ourselves to

Just because you are included does not mean that others are excluded

Our hero’s or the people that are “Chosen” often it to the exclusion of others
The table is big enough
Lyrics of the song a place at the table.

Embrace and Share God's Inclusive Choice

Embrace that you are God’s own choice
embrace that you are beautifully and wonderfully made
God knit you together in your mother womb and knows the exact amount of hairs that are on your head

Chosenness on a communal level is sacredness
