time standing still
Worn-Out Sandals
Worn-Out Sandals
after the episode at Ai where the Israelite overcome the sin in the camp, they continue the conquest
the people of Gibeon hear of it and rather than form a plan to fight the undefeated, they form a scheme to protect their selves
fake being people journeying from far away
they live very close by and just want to bind Israel to their word
a covenant, a promise, a word of a good person is a sacred thing
people live and die over their word and to lie so flippantly in this time is a harsh thing
they are cursed to be the bottom of society, but they are spared
Persuasive Poetry
Persuasive Poetry
a famous story used to try to disprove the bible as lunacy, a silly book of stories and myths
lord of righteousness, seems like an ironic name or maybe its because of where he is
gathers other armies and attacks Gibeon
Joshua repels the attack, God intervenes in the battle, Joshua quotes a prophecy and it comes true
did the sun really stand still?
if God is really God, then he could stop the time without ruining his creation
maybe a solstice happened to coincide as God planned. maybe the God of creation truly is as powerful as scripture says he is
poor investigation says, “this cannot happen because it has never been observed happening before or since”
Joshua continues and conquers the south of the promised land because God is with them
Application
Application
many things will be brought up to you that are attempts at explaining why the notion of a God at all is silly
Joshua believed wholeheartedly and God worked through him
don’t believe blindly
but know also the burden of proof that ought to be brought to every investigation, whether it is involving your faith or otherwise
am I disregarding this thing only because I’ve never seen it done before?
or is it because some part of me doesn’t want it to be true?
