John 11:1-10

John 11:1 NA28
Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus from Bethany, from the village of Mary and Martha her sister.
John 11:2 NA28
It was Mary anointing the Lord with perfume and wiping his feet with her hair, whose brother, Lazarus was sick.
John 11:3 NA28
So the sisters sent to him saying, “Lord, look! The one whom you love is sick.
John 11:4 NA28
Now hearing this, Jesus said, “This sickness is not to death, but for the glory of God, in order that the son of God might be glorified through it.
John 11:5 NA28
Now Jesus was loving Martha and her sister and Lazarus.
John 11:6 NA28
Then, when he heard that he was sick, then he indeed (emphatic μεν) remained in that place for two days.
John 11:7 NA28
Then after this he said to the disciples, “We might go into Judea again.”
John 11:8 NA28
λέγουσιν αὐτῷ οἱ μαθηταί· ῥαββί, νῦν ἐζήτουν σε λιθάσαι οἱ Ἰουδαῖοι, καὶ πάλιν ὑπάγεις ἐκεῖ;
The disciples said to him, “rabbi, now the Jews were seeking to stone you, and again you go away there?”
John 11:9 NA28
Jesus answered, Are there not twelve hours in a day? If anyone walks about in the day, he does not stumble, because he sees the light of this world.
John 11:10 NA28
But if anyone walks in the night, he stumbles, because the light is not in him.

Jn 11:11-27

John 11:11 NA28
He said this, and after this he said to them, our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep. But I go in order that I might wake him.
John 11:12 NA28
So the disciples said to him, Lord, if he has fallen asleep he will recover.
John 11:13 NA28
Now Jesus had spoken about his death, but they thought that he was speaking of sleep sleep.
John 11:14 NA28
So then Jesus said to them plainly, “Lazarus died.”
John 11:15 NA28
And I rejoice for your sake that I was not there, in order that you might believe. But we go to him.
John 11:16 NA28
Then Thomas, called Didymus, said to the fellow disciples: “Let us go also, in order that we might die with him.”
John 11:17 NA28
So Jesus, having arrived, found him already four days in the tomb.
John 11:18 NA28
Now Bethany was near to Jerusalem, about fifteen stadiums from (απο) it.
John 11:19 NA28
So many from the Jews had arrived to Martha and Mary in order that they might console them concerning their brother.
John 11:20 NA28
Then when Martha heard that Jesus was coming, she came to meet him. But Mary was sitting in the house.
John 11:21 NA28
The Mary said to Jesus, “Lord if you had been here, then my Brother would not have died!”
John 11:22 NA28
But also now I know that whatever you might ask God, God will grant to you .
John 11:23 NA28
Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise.”
John 11:24 NA28
Mary said to him, “I know that he will rise in the resurrection on the last day.”
John 11:25 NA28
Jesus said to her, I am the resurrection and the life. The one believing in me will live if he dies.
John 11:26 NA28
καὶ πᾶς ὁ ζῶν καὶ πιστεύων εἰς ἐμὲ οὐ μὴ ἀποθάνῃ εἰς τὸν αἰῶνα. πιστεύεις τοῦτο;
And everyone living and believing in me never die forever. Do you believe this?
John 11:27 NA28
She said to him “Yes Lord, I have believed that you are the Christ the Son of God, the one coming into the world.

Jn 11:28-37

John 11:28 NA28
And having said this she went away and called Mary her sister privately, saying “The teacher is here and summons you.”
John 11:29 NA28
So when she heard she got up quickly and was going to him.
John 11:30 NA28
Now not yet had Jesus come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha greeted him.
John 11:31 NA28
Then the Jews, being with her in the house, and comforting her, having seen that Martha quickly stood and left, followed her, thinking that she was going away to the tomb in order to weep there.
John 11:32 NA28
So when Mary came where Jesus was, having seen him, she fell down at his feet, saying to him, “Lord, if you were here, then my brother would not have died.”
John 11:33 NA28
So when Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews having come together with her weeping, he was deeply moved in his spirit and himself troubled.
John 11:34 NA28
And said, “Where have you laid him?.” They said to him, “Lord, come and see.”
John 11:35 NA28
Jesus wept.
John 11:36 NA28
So the Jews were saying, “See how he loved him!”
John 11:37 NA28
τινὲς δὲ ἐξ αὐτῶν εἶπαν· οὐκ ἐδύνατο οὗτος ὁ ἀνοίξας τοὺς ὀφθαλμοὺς τοῦ τυφλοῦ ποιῆσαι ἵνα καὶ οὗτος μὴ ἀποθάνῃ;
But some of them said, “Was this one not able, the one having opened the eyes of the blind, to do that in order to keep this one from dying?”

Jn 11:38-46

John 11:38 NA28
Then Jesus again, being deeply moved within himself, went to the tomb. Now there was a cave and a stone was lying upon it.
John 11:39 NA28
Jesus said, “Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the one having died, said to him, “Already smells, for it is the fourth day.”
John 11:40 NA28
λέγει αὐτῇ ὁ Ἰησοῦς· οὐκ εἶπόν σοι ὅτι ἐὰν πιστεύσῃς ὄψῃ τὴν δόξαν τοῦ θεοῦ;
Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you that if you believe you will se the glory of God?”
John 11:41 NA28
So they took away the stone. And Jesus raised his eyes above and said, “Father I give you thanks because you hear me.”
John 11:42 NA28
And I had known that you always hear me, but because of the crowd having stood around I said (this), in order that they might believe that you sent me.
John 11:43 NA28
And having said these things he cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come out!”
John 11:44 NA28
John 11:47 NA28
Συνήγαγον οὖν οἱ ἀρχιερεῖς καὶ οἱ Φαρισαῖοι συνέδριον καὶ ἔλεγον· τί ποιοῦμεν ὅτι οὗτος ὁ ἄνθρωπος πολλὰ ποιεῖ σημεῖα;
