Does God have any Favorites? Many times you might here that God favorite the Jews over others. The question is that even though the Jew were the chosen one at first that does not mean that he favorite them over others. Deuteronomy 7:6, but why? was it because they were holier than everybody else? Absolute not! Deuteronomy 7:7-9 reminds us that they were not better that the rest of the people. FYI the first promise of the Messiah after Adam and Eve’s fall into sin was Genesis 3:15. God chose the nation of Israel to be the people through whom Jesus Christ

would be born—the Savior from sin and death John 3:16. God later confirmed that the Messiah would come from the line of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob Genesis 12:1-3. Jesus Christ is the ultimate reason why God chose Israel to be His special people. God did not need to have a chosen people, but He decided to do it that way. Jesus had to come from some nation of people, and God chose Israel. However, God’s reason for choosing the nation of Israel was not solely for the purpose of producing the Messiah. God’s desire for Israel was that they would go and teach others about Him. Israel was to be a nation of priests, prophets, and missionaries to the world. God’s intent was for Israel to be a distinct people, a nation who pointed others towards God and His promised provision of a Redeemer, Messiah, and Savior. For the most part, Israel failed in this task. However, God’s ultimate purpose for Israel—that of bringing the Messiah into the world—was fulfilled perfectly in the Person of Jesus Christ. And going back to the questions God reminds us that he has no favorite in the book of Romans 2:11.

But why did Jesus have to come and die on the cross for our sins? Before we put Jesus on trial with this question. One must understand that His way is better than ours and His thoughts are not our thoughts. Isaiah 55:8 ““For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.” and in Deuteronomy 32:4 “He is the Rock, his works are perfect, and all his ways are just. A faithful God who does no wrong, upright and just is he.” Remember, the holy God cannot let sin go unpunished. To bear our own sins would be to suffer God’s judgment in the flames of hell. Praise God, He kept His promise to send and sacrifice the perfect Lamb to bear the sins of those who trust in Him. Jesus had to die because He is the only one who can pay the penalty for our sins. If God is showing you your need for the Lamb of God, find out how His sacrificial death can take away your sins
