Intro:

hey everyone! today we are talking about spiritual gifts.
Whether you are here because you believe you have the gift of wisdom and knowledge or you are just looking to lear what about the gift you are in the right spot
all wisdom comes from God and He Himself is the embodiment of wisdom
so I want to God to the Bible and see what God has to say about wisdom and knowledge

Passage:

1 Corinthians 12:6–8 (ESV)
and there are varieties of activities, but it is the same God who empowers them all in everyone. To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good. For to one is given through the Spirit the utterance of wisdom, and to another the utterance of knowledge according to the same Spirit,
The Holy Spirit gives us gifts and he is the one who gives the gift of wisdom and knowledge not us.
We can do things to gain wisdom and knowledge but the gifting is entirely different.
ilastration, my brother Evan is a col bas athlet. He is good and early on in middle school we all knew he was gifted
he was naturally good at all things sports
I on the other hand was not
I had to work really hard to get my skills and abilities close to what he had. We were gifted differently
he at times scwondered his gift
he didn’t lose his gift if he stopped working on it
to be gifted with wisdom is a blessing but if we don’t seek God for more and more wisdom we will miss out on growth we could have.
but what is wisdom? Let’s look at proverbs
Proverbs 2:1–12 ESV
My son, if you receive my words and treasure up my commandments with you, making your ear attentive to wisdom and inclining your heart to understanding; yes, if you call out for insight and raise your voice for understanding, if you seek it like silver and search for it as for hidden treasures, then you will understand the fear of the Lord and find the knowledge of God. For the Lord gives wisdom; from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he stores up sound wisdom for the upright; he is a shield to those who walk in integrity, guarding the paths of justice and watching over the way of his saints. Then you will understand righteousness and justice and equity, every good path; for wisdom will come into your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul; discretion will watch over you, understanding will guard you, delivering you from the way of evil, from men of perverted speech,
Wisdom is knowledge for life it is what helps us to walk through life without tripping and falling to much.
To walk With untied shoes is foolish
but to double knot could be wise
And what is our wisdom for id we are gifted with it?
it is for others
To each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good
wisdom is a gift we can use to help others and build up the body of Christ or the church.
with wisdom comes danger
a few dangers are
pride
king Nebacanezer prid
being a hypocrite
king Solomon had wisdom but he walked away from the lord because he didn’t practice the wisdom He knew
and layizyness
like my brother we can chose to not seek wisdom and just be happy with what we have and if we fall into that we are missing out.
So what? What should we take away about wisdom as a gift?
remember who gives wisdom and thank Him for wisdom
seek humility in knowing that without God you wouldn’t have wisdom
ask God for help and protection from pride and being a hypocrite
read and pray daily, we need scripture and prayer like we need food.

Knowledge

there are 2 different types of knowledge
knowledge given by God
A drive to understand and have knowledge of th e things of God
2 Samuel 12:1–12 ESV
And the Lord sent Nathan to David. He came to him and said to him, “There were two men in a certain city, the one rich and the other poor. The rich man had very many flocks and herds, but the poor man had nothing but one little ewe lamb, which he had bought. And he brought it up, and it grew up with him and with his children. It used to eat of his morsel and drink from his cup and lie in his arms, and it was like a daughter to him. Now there came a traveler to the rich man, and he was unwilling to take one of his own flock or herd to prepare for the guest who had come to him, but he took the poor man’s lamb and prepared it for the man who had come to him.” Then David’s anger was greatly kindled against the man, and he said to Nathan, “As the Lord lives, the man who has done this deserves to die, and he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity.” Nathan said to David, “You are the man! Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, ‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul. And I gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your arms and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah. And if this were too little, I would add to you as much more. Why have you despised the word of the Lord, to do what is evil in his sight? You have struck down Uriah the Hittite with the sword and have taken his wife to be your wife and have killed him with the sword of the Ammonites. Now therefore the sword shall never depart from your house, because you have despised me and have taken the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your wife.’ Thus says the Lord, ‘Behold, I will raise up evil against you out of your own house. And I will take your wives before your eyes and give them to your neighbor, and he shall lie with your wives in the sight of this sun. For you did it secretly, but I will do this thing before all Israel and before the sun.’ ”
