Proverbs 29:18
18Where there is no vision, the people perish: But he that keepeth the law, happy is he.
I want to focus on the first part of that verse” Where there is no vision the people perish. We are in the new year. People are thinking about goals and resolutions that they want to do in 2024. They see what they want to do and accomplish. It’s something that is now and in the future. We as a church need to be about the now and in the future.
Paul said in “Philippians 3:13–14 (NIV)
13Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead,
14I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
We cant look back at the glory days. Whether that was a year ago, five years ago or ten years ago. The deadliest words a church member can say is “But, we’ve never done it that way before”!
We are in 2024 where our world and culture has changing but Jesus Christ is the same today, yesterday, and forever! The message is the same but there are different methods now on how to communicate that message.
As a church we have to know how to walk in the world but not be of the world. We have to know how to speak to the language of the times and culture in order to reach them.
Paul said “I have become all things to all people so that by all possible means I might save some.”
I believe Paul stayed current with the cultural trends so he could understand what they are saying and use it to win some to Christ.
We need to do the same. We might not like how people are glued to TV, tablets, and other screens but technology is here to stay and we need to learn the language of 2024 if we expect to reach those that God wants us to reach!
