Grace that Save

Snippets of last week:
We discussed two parts of grace -one that is common grace that is the - By common grace I am referring to the fact that God uses and blesses unbelievers, not just His children, to fulfill His purpose in this world.
Secondly we spoke about special grace -
Grace in its meanings describe to us - unmerited favor, Special grace, on the other hand, is saving grace, the Spirit’s work of applying Christ’s atonement to humans.
Grace saved us and Deliver us - Grace is the person of Jesus
We also said grace flows from the very being of God.
Grace made us alive from the death state of sin that rules us.
2 It wasn’t so long ago that you were mired in that old stagnant life of sin. You let the world, which doesn’t know the first thing about living, tell you how to live. You filled your lungs with polluted unbelief, and then exhaled disobedience. We all did it, all of us doing what we felt like doing, when we felt like doing it, all of us in the same boat. It’s a wonder God didn’t lose his temper and do away with the whole lot of us. Instead, immense in mercy and with an incredible love, he embraced us. He took our sin-dead lives and made us alive in Christ. He did all this on his own, with no help from us! Then he picked us up and set us down in highest heaven in company with Jesus, our Messiah.

OLD Testament Examples of Grace
Genesis 6:8 “But Noah found favor in the eyes of the Lord.”
Noah found divine grace and favor that saved him from the flood. This grace is the same divine grace that saved Noah from divine judgement. Noah’s name means rest and He was a type of Christ who would come.
In this passage we see the Grace that saved Noah empower Noah to build a ark that will make him and his family escaped the wrath and judgement of God.
This is why Grace is a person called Jesus Christ that saved us from divine Judgement and wrath. Brought us into his family and ushered us into His rest.
We must understand Grace don’t only save us but also empower us to see, hear, speak and do His will in the earth.. How does Grace build a life through difficulty must be the question? If Noah found Grace or favor with God it now enable him to preach the word to thos who was lost and built technology that will survive the earths greatest storms.
It gives us an understanding that what we should build if it is family, relationships, careers, business, ministry. You can be full of grace on Monday to Saturday on your job.
Psalm 116:5 “Gracious is the Lord, and righteous; our God is merciful.”

English Standard Version Jer 31:2 Thus says the LORD:
“The people who survived the sword
found grace in the wilderness;
God gave the next generation grace to survive and find grace in the wilderness. The grace was to journey with God and enter into the promised Land.

Grace of Christ has appeared through Jesus Christ
Titus 2:11 “For the grace of God has appeared, bringing salvation for all people,”
Romans 5:17 “For if, because of one man’s trespass, death reigned through that one man, much more will those who receive the abundance of grace and the free gift of righteousness reign in life through the one man Jesus Christ.”
The one man that allow death to reign through sin in the earth is Adam. First we all were in Adam but now all of us is in Christ and he made us alive to live as sons and daughters in the Kingdom of God.
Death reigned through Adam now Grace reign through Jesus Christ. If Grace brings life to every area of our lives internally and has an effect on the external.
The word abundant means overrich,to make overrich,” “to provide superabundantly
Gerhard Kittel, Gerhard Friedrich, and Geoffrey William Bromiley, Theological Dictionary of the New Testament, Abridged in One Volume (Grand Rapids, MI: W.B. Eerdmans, 1985), 828.
The word reign means someone that rules and has sovereign authority over a people or nation.
Lexham Theological Wordbook (βασιλεύς)
king, ruler. Refers to a king or ruler who has sovereign authority over a people or nation.
We should reign by grace and righteousness in life.
This grace is so that we can walk in saving work of Christ and we can affect our households, neighbours, streets and communities with this grace. We can share this grace with them.

Grace empower us to walk and live in the free gift of righteousness. So righteous living become more easy if we do it by the grace of God. Disciplines like prayer , staying in the word, doing acts of kindness, giving money become easy with grace.
Romans 5:21 ESV
so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
The three elements that should reign in the child of God’s life is grace, righteousness and eternal life.
The two realities of grace
Ephesians 2:8 “For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God,” Ephesians 2:9 “not a result of works, so that no one may boast.”
If grace is a gift then we should be treating the gift with care. because its a eternal gift that exist on the inside of our spirit and made available for use.
This gift was the spirit of Christ made available to us for earthly success in the will of God.
Grace awakens believe(faith)in us
Acts 18:27–28 “And when he wished to cross to Achaia, the brothers encouraged him and wrote to the disciples to welcome him. When he arrived, he greatly helped those who through grace had believed, for he powerfully refuted the Jews in public, showing by the Scriptures that the Christ was Jesus.”
Grace empower us to believe in the the truth of Christ and received him as saviour.
Sin Has lost his Power through Grace
Romans 6:14 “For sin will have no dominion over you, since you are not under law but under grace.”
The law makes you aware of sin but grace makes you aware of life. When you subject your self to the dominion of sin you remove yourself from the vast life of grace that should have empowered you in that area of your life that is not submitted to Him.
Grace that deals with trespasses and sin
Tresspasses is sin or another word for transgression.
transgression n. — the action of going beyond or overstepping some moral boundary or limit.
A trespass is you wandering in lapse, side slip. It also means a deviation, error, fall, offence, fall away.

sin (act) n. — an act or feeling that transgresses something forbidden or ignores something required by God’s law or character; whether in thought, feeling, speech, or action
Rom 6:14 Grace has dealt with the power of sin and all its effects. The word dominion means lord and refer to authority and power. This means God’s grace through Jesus christ has dealt with all power and authority that sin had and brought you under the dominion of Jesus Christ.

The Abundance of Grace is received in various forms

The scriptures speaks of Jesus being one full of grace and truth.
English Standard Version (Chapter 1) John 1:16-17,John 1:18
16 For from his fullness we have all received, grace upon grace. 17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. 18 No one has ever seen God; the only God, who is at the Father’s side, he has made him known.
If Jesus was full of grace and truth we should be filled with God’s grace. We should depend on His grace!
Grace flows out of God ‘s fullness - This means God is full of grace and his being or who he is grace.
One meaning of the word Greek word for fulness means satisfaction.
It means God found satisfaction in sharing His grace with you who dont deserve it.
God share of himself with us through Jesus Christ shows us the character of the Father is to share his resources that comes out of himself with us.
We may call this the genrosity of His grace that he bestowed on us.
If Jesus is complete in grace then there is abundance available that can resource everyone on the planet.
When we look at Grace we see God’s abundant nature and generosity.

Grace is provided through the speaking of the word
Acts 20:32 “And now I commend you to God and to the word of his grace, which is able to build you up and to give you the inheritance among all those who are sanctified.”
The word of God is full of grace to build us up and show us our inheritance that are among other believers. The sanctified is those whom God has saved and made themselves available to be discipled by the word.
With some of us the word can’t work by fire and sanctify us so that grace may abound to us.

God has supplied an abundance of grace for us as His church. He has given us a super abundant

Grace to receive the messengers send to you.

19 I am telling you this now, before it takes place, that when it does take place you may believe that I am he. 20 Truly, truly, I say to you, whoever receives the one I send receives me, and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.”

When we receive God’s messengers send to us we grow in the grace of God made available to us.

15 But on some points I have written to you very boldly by way of reminder, because of the grace given me by God 16 to be a minister of Christ Jesus to the Gentiles in the priestly service of the gospel of God, so that the offering of the Gentiles may be acceptable, sanctified by the Holy Spirit.

GRACE IS RECEIVED THROUGH COMMUNITY
Philippians 1:7 “It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.”

Thanksgiving

4 I give thanks to my God always for you because of the grace of God that was given you in Christ Jesus,

Paul is speaking to the Corinthians community and telling them they had received the grace of God in Christ Jesus.
This means one of the ways God minister through you is by grace.

7 But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. 8 Therefore it says,

“When he ascended on high he led a host of captives,

and he gave gifts to men.”

This means the grace of God is available for you to grow and take on the image of Christ Jesus in your personal life.

Grace is Sufficient and is a Power

1 GRACE HAS MORE POWER THEN SIN

20 Now the law came in to increase the trespass, but where sin increased, grace abounded all the more, 21 so that, as sin reigned in death, grace also might reign through righteousness leading to eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

tHE PASSAGE SHOWS US GRACE IS MORE POWERFUL THEN SIN AND DEALT WITH ITS EFFECTS IN AND THROUGH MANKIND. GRACE HAS A NEXT STEP TO REIGN IN YOUR LIFE AND DEAL WITH THE EVIL
