The exaltation of God
The exaltation of God flows from a high view of God, as we esteem Him rightly for His greatness and incomprehensibility.
Iit is to reflect on the “Godness” of God and to be transformed by that inspection.
To exalt God is to worship Him exclusively, and to honor Him by bowing our knee to His authority, keeping His commandments no matter what the circumstances of our lives may be.
Exalt God With Worship! “Exalt the LORD our God and worship at his holy hill; for the LORD our God is holy.” Psalm 99.9. NIV. Here are a few ways to worship Him.
Sing - “Let everything that has breath praise the Lord!” (Psalm 150:6 NIV)
Lift Your Hands. The Bible tells us to “lift up holy hands” when we enter God’s presence. (1 Timothy 2:8).
Kneel in reverence and appreciation of His infinite power.“Come let us bow down and worship him; let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker! He is our God; we are the people he cares for, the flock for which he provides.” Psalm 95:6-7 GNT
Play an instrument or dance.“Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth; break forth into joyous song and sing praises!” Psalm 98:4 ESV
Clap“Come, Everyone! Clap your hands! Shout to God with joyful praise! For the Lord, Most High is awesome.” Psalm 47 1-2 NLT.
Exalt God With Prayers. Remember, God loves our prayers! The enemy despises our prayers, so it’s only natural that many nonbelievers ridicule the notion of “sending your thoughts and prayers.”
Exalt God For Your Victory. In battle, when Moses lifted his hands in prayer and praise, they were winning, but when Moses lowered his hands, they were losing. “The LORD is my strength and my song; he has given me victory. This is my God, and I will praise him — my father’s God, and I will exalt him!” Exodus 15:12. NLT
Exalt the Lord by working on your destinyWhen life is difficult, it is so hard to not get sidetracked and distracted. Let alone turning your attention to the things God has for you to do.
The enemy lives to keep us distracted. Once I set the distractions aside, I can get absorbed in my work and I need to remember not to exalt the work the Lord’s given me, over Him.
“O LORD, You are my God! I will exalt You; I will praise Your name. For You have worked wonders—plans formed long ago—in perfect faithfulness.” Isaiah 25:1 BSB
Exalt the Word
“I bow down toward your holy temple and give thanks to your name for your steadfast love and your faithfulness; for You have exalted your name and Your word above everything.” Psalm 138:2.ASV
It is the manifest result of a life that pursues humble obedience to God, and is the natural expression of faith lived out, since faith is the assurance of things hoped for and the conviction of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).
Therefore to exalt God is to believe His promises and commands and act upon them
So, how do I exalt God? To exalt means to raise to the highest of heights. To exalt God is to raise God to the highest place in our lives. To give Him first place in every thought in our mind, every word spoken, and every deed done. This cannot be done apart from His Son, Jesus Christ. God has highly exalted Jesus and made Him Lord over everything (Philippians 2:8-9)! Thus, to exalt God is to highly exalt or make much of His Son.
knowing that our reward will come from Him, and to believe His Word and humbly submit to it even if at the outset we doubt it can work
1 Corinthians 10:13 (NKJV) — 13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.
In this God is glorified because we will bear much fruit (John 15:8).
In short, we seek to exalt Him by taking up our cross and following Him as true disciples
Matthew 16:24 (NKJV) — 24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, “If anyone desires to come after Me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me.
We believe that the result of an exalted view of God produces a strong and abiding faith that is marked by clarity in our understanding of the Scriptures and confidence in its power, a right perspective on our circumstances, and vitality in our church life.
Joshua 24:19 (NKJV) — 19 But Joshua said to the people, “You cannot serve the Lord, for He is a holy God. He is a jealous God; He will not forgive your transgressions nor your sins.
Psalm 2:6 (NKJV) — 6 “Yet I have set My King On My holy hill of Zion.”
Psalm 48:1 (NKJV) — 1 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised In the city of our God, In His holy mountain.
Psalm 99:5 (NKJV) — 5 Exalt the Lord our God, And worship at His footstool— He is holy.
Psalm 107:32 (NKJV) — 32 Let them exalt Him also in the assembly of the people, And praise Him in the company of the elders.
Ezekiel 20:40 (NKJV) — 40 For on My holy mountain, on the mountain height of Israel,” says the Lord God, “there all the house of Israel, all of them in the land, shall serve Me; there I will accept them, and there I will require your offerings and the firstfruits of your sacrifices, together with all your holy things.
Luke 1:49 (NKJV) — 49 For He who is mighty has done great things for me, And holy is His name.
Revelation 15:4 (NKJV) — 4 Who shall not fear You, O Lord, and glorify Your name? For You alone are holy. For all nations shall come and worship before You, For Your judgments have been manifested.”
