Lord’s Prayer
MLK Day:
We honor and celebrate a man of God that brought unity to our nation
While the world and people in our nation are actively trying to separate us, even in the name of inclusion they’re causing division
We must fight as people of faith and a unified church to stay united
Fasting:
4 days in
It’s not to late to join if you haven’t started already
Believing and praying for that one person you have in mind
Right their names down
Visualize them praising God
Wanted to throw this in:
Ezra 8:21 NKJV
21 Then I proclaimed a fast there at the river of Ahava, that we might humble ourselves before our God, to seek from Him the right way for us and our little ones and all our possessions.
You know its possible to go to God for direction instead of going to him in failure
Sadly most people try and plan their own way and end up having to backtrack
What do you need direction for this year?
Getting a vision is half the battle, but direction is key for walking it out
In your prayer time:
Jeremiah 33:3 NKJV
3 ‘Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.’
2 of my favorite prayers:
Ephesians Prayer (Ephesians 1:15-23)
The Lords Prayer
As some of you know the Lord’s prayer was foundational in my walk with God:
Really a turning point in my Christian walk
Why I believe that was in that I made it a first priority in my life
Life is completely about priorities
Paul tells us how to prioritize our lives:
1 Timothy 6:6 NKJV
6 Now godliness with contentment is great gain.
Contentment there is: a perfect condition of life in which no aid or support is needed
When Godliness is our main objective, our desire, our standard for living
Everything else is added bonuses
Contentment is compartmentalization
Having your priorities straight
He says to be careful where your focus is on
1 Timothy 6:9 NKJV
9 But those who desire to be rich fall into temptation and a snare, and into many foolish and harmful lusts which drown men in destruction and perdition.
We can narrow our focuses and not see the big picture
A snare is used for harvesting animals
A wire is set up on a well used pathway
An animal sees what it front of it and doesn’t see
In the same way we can get tunnel vision when we aren’t focused on God:
Not seeing his full picture for our lives
Where are you putting your desires?
What do you prioritize?
A lot of times people end up in the messes they’re in because of their priorities:
When my life was out of order I had to re-evaluate what I prioritized
What helped straighten me out was the Lord’s Prayer
In regards of popularity of uses
John 3:16 then the Lords prayer
It’s one of the most over used and miss understood passages in the Bible from an outsiders stand point
We’ll pick it up here in
Matthew 6:5–9 NKJV
“And when you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites. For they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the corners of the streets, that they may be seen by men. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward. But you, when you pray, go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place; and your Father who sees in secret will reward you openly. And when you pray, do not use vain repetitions as the heathen do. For they think that they will be heard for their many words. “Therefore do not be like them. For your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him. In this manner, therefore, pray: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name.
1. Praise Him because he is Holy
Take time to worship Him simply because he is God
Psalm 113:1–4 NKJV
1 Praise the Lord! Praise, O servants of the Lord, Praise the name of the Lord! 2 Blessed be the name of the Lord From this time forth and forevermore! 3 From the rising of the sun to its going down The Lord’s name is to be praised. 4 The Lord is high above all nations, His glory above the heavens.
He must be top priority in our lives
He must be worshipped
He deserves all the Glory and the Honor
We reverence Him with Holy fear
The initial part of my prayer and devotional time is just spent praising God
Your kingdom come Your will be done….. .
2. Thank Him for his perfect will being done in your
His will being done in your families life
His will being done in our Church and our City
Psalm 37:23
23 The steps of a good man are [a]ordered by the Lord,
And He delights in his way.
Thank you Lord you make my paths straight
1 Kings 3:14 NKJV
14 So if you walk in My ways, to keep My statutes and My commandments, as your father David walked, then I will lengthen your days.”
Thank you Father I choose the narrow gate and the straight path
That even though there is few who find it, I am one of the few that does
I follow the way of difficulty with gladness and steadfastness
On earth as it is in heaven.
3. Thank God and call heaven down to your earthly
We call bodies, minds and situations to line up with the Word of God
Matthew 16:19 NKJV
19 And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.”
I’ll call heaven down to earth in my marriage
In my kids life
In my physical body
I bind fear, anxiety, depression and double mindedness in my family
I bind lack, poverty, debt and covetousness of my life
I bind anything that tries to exalt itself against the knowledge of the living God in my circumstances
I release: healing, health, sound mindedness, boldness, I release signs and wonder, miracles at the work of my hand(through God’s power)
I thank you Lord that I prophesy to the nations
That everything I put my hand to prospers and no weapon formed against me will
Give us this day our daily bread.
4. Thank you father you supply seed to the sower
I have an abundance to give to every good work
I am the most generous person I know
I pray for what we need as a church financially
Philippians 4:19
“And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.”
And forgive us our debts, As we forgive our debtors.
5. I repent of any sin in my life
Thank you Father you are removing any pride in my life.
Thank you Father I walk in forgiveness and take into no account suffered wrongs
I forgive people in the future who will try to wrong me
I release grudges, judgment and anything that is not filtered through the lens of Love in my heart and mind
MAKE A SAVINGS ACCOUNT FOR PEOPLE WHO WILL WRONG YOU IN THE FUTURE
1 John 1:8-10
“If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness. If we say that we have not sinned, we make Him a liar, and His word is not in us.”
And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.
6- Thank you Father you provide a way of escape in every situation:
You make the exits abundantly clear
Thank you I am free from bondage to sin and fear in my life
That I am no longer a slave to the world or sin but I walk in freedom purchased by the blood of Jesus
Thank You I speak truth in everything I do
I choose to do the right thing in every situation I encounter
I am not a slave to the way people think of me
I live to please God and Him alone
I fear the Lord more than I value the opinions of the World
James 4:7–10 NKJV
7 Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8 Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
You resist!
Submit to God
Praying to God that the enemy leaves
When he tell us to resist him
For Yours is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen.
I want this year to be a year we call heaven down to earth:
Where you see those things come to pass that you’ve been believing for
It comes at the cost of a life that is surrendered to him
“Our prayers are transactional and faith is the currency”
Put faith on your prayers
Romans 10:13 NKJV
13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.”
