The word Amen appears Within the Hebrew Bible, as a word of affirmation.
The “Amen” typically appears at the close of commands, blessings, curses, doxologies, and prayers. Fundamentally, it is used to confirm what has been said before, by way of response. Well as we continue to lift up our 2024 theme scripture. Praising Him More in 2024!
After David finishes his song or psalm of praise verse 36
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel, from everlasting to everlasting!” Then all the people said, “Amen!” and praised the LORD.
(1 Ch 16:36).
Again Praise is a powerful expression of gratitude, recognition, and adoration towards God. The word Blessed Baruk here because it prescribed to God. We should be familiar with this term because we have a responsibility to Bless or Baruk God.
Psalm 41 closes like this
Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting!
Amen and Amen. (Ps 41:13).
Psalm 106 ends this way:
48 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting!
And let all the people say, “Amen!”
We are reminded Praise is a fundamental aspect of worship; We come before him with a since of gratitude.
The Bible mentions praise over 320 times, emphasizing its significance in fostering a deep connection with the divine.
Praise is the expression of admiration, thanksgiving, and worship towards God.
It can be conveyed through various expressions, including instruments, dance, clapping, and even shouts of joy. This diversity allows individuals to connect with God in ways that resonate deeply with their hearts.
Praise is not solely for God’s benefit: While praising God is an act of devotion and reverence, it also brings transformative effects to those who offer it. Praising God uplifts the soul, fills one’s heart with gratitude, and strengthens faith. It helps believers focus on the goodness of God, fostering a sense of peace and joy.
Praise is a powerful spiritual weapon: The Bible highlights that praise has the ability to bring breakthroughs, deliverance, and victory. In the midst of challenges, praising God can shift perspectives and release divine intervention. The story of Paul and Silas, who praised God while imprisoned, resulting in an earthquake that led to their freedom, serves as a remarkable testament to the power of praise.
So David had unleashed our secret weapon which is praise.
Lest look at 3 things we can take from this portion
He makes it clear that everything the Lord created will praise him;
Verse 23
23 Sing to the LORD, all the earth!
Tell of his salvation from day to day.
24 Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples! (1 Ch 16:23–24).
Similar to Psalm 96 96 Oh sing to the LORD a new song;
sing to the LORD, all the earth!
2 Sing to the LORD, bless his name;
tell of his salvation from day to day.
3 Declare his glory among the nations,
his marvelous works among all the peoples! (Ps 96:1–3).
We are only doing our part of what God has created.
We are only doing our part of what God has created.
He makes it clear that all the praise goes to God
For great is the LORD, and greatly to be praised,
and he is to be feared above all gods.
26 For all the gods of the peoples are worthless idols,
but the LORD made the heavens. (2016). (1 Ch 16:25–26).
Another Psalm 95
For the LORD is a great God,
and a great King above all gods.
4 In his hand are the depths of the earth;
the heights of the mountains are his also.
5 The sea is his, for he made it,
and his hands formed the dry land.
6 Oh come, let us worship and bow down;
let us kneel before the LORD, our Maker!
7 For he is our God,
and we are the people of his pasture,
and the sheep of his hand. (Ps 95:3–7).
Finally we will Agree that Lord deserves the Praise
Getting to amen is easy here.
34 Oh give thanks to the LORD, for he is good;
for his steadfast love endures forever! (1 Ch 16:34).
35 Say also:
“Save us, O God of our salvation,
and gather and deliver us from among the nations,
that we may give thanks to your holy name
and glory in your praise.
36 Blessed be the LORD, the God of Israel,
from everlasting to everlasting!”
Then all the people said, “Amen!” and praised the LORD.
