#1 I Am the Bread of life

Intro

how many of us have ever wanted something that meet our needs?
For example how many of us when we are thirsty we get pop, coke or some other drink like it?
I remember as a kid my parents would tell me coke doesn’t actually satisfy.
all it dose is make me more trusty and it doesn't hydrate me.
there are things in life that we thing will satisfy us in the moment
But they but they aren’t the long term answer.
another example is the idea of reanwgng the furniture in a burning building or on the titanic
it makes no sense
This is what was happening to the people of isreal they we seeking to fix a momentary problem instead of seeing there real problem.
in John 6 Jesus has feed thousands and they begin to seek to make Him King
then Jesus goes across the lake to another area and the people search for Him.
and we will pick up there in John 6:24 and we will read until verse 40
but lets pray and then go to the text and see what God has for us today.
Pray
John 6:24–40 (ESV)
24 So when the crowd saw that Jesus was not there, nor his disciples, they themselves got into the boats and went to Capernaum, seeking Jesus.
25 When they found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, “Rabbi, when did you come here?” 26 Jesus answered them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, you are seeking me, not because you saw signs, but because you ate your fill of the loaves. 27 Do not work for the food that perishes, but for the food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give to you. For on him God the Father has set his seal.” 28 Then they said to him, “What must we do, to be doing the works of God?” 29 Jesus answered them, “This is the work of God, that you believe in him whom he has sent.” 30 So they said to him, “Then what sign do you do, that we may see and believe you? What work do you perform? 31 Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness; as it is written, ‘He gave them bread from heaven to eat.’ ” 32 Jesus then said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, it was not Moses who gave you the bread from heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread from heaven.
the people here are doing two things
1 they are trying to trick Jesus into giving them more food
2 they are mis attributing moses as the one who gave the bread
this shows us there heart
they worship man and not God
and we can do this in our own lives
we can worship the gifts from God rather then God Himself
we can worship the one God uses to give the gifts instead of God
the Jews had a inproper order for how they loved the things of earth
they Loved the food or the blessings selfishly and not gratfuly
gifts on earth should turn our eyes to God and rise more and more love for God not turn our eyes to man or objects
but Jesus is Going to refocus the crowed on the truth of what they need
33 For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” 34 They said to him, “Sir, give us this bread always.”
35 Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life; whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in me shall never thirst.
And hear we see jesus taking a physical reality and bringing it to the spiritual reality
bread in the old testament is what saved and sustained isreal in the desert
and now the true salvation the true bread is here in christ Jesus.
jesus is the satisfaction for our desires
all of us have a hole in our life, we all have a hunger for more more more but we are never satisfied
and Jesus is reveling that He is what we are looking for and He is what we need
Jesus offers salvation
(Share the Gospel )
but He also is what sustains us.
many of us are spiritually starving and are in desapret need of jesus to feed us
we need to be in prayer = taking and building relations ship with Jesus
reading/study = learning about who Jesus is
36 But I said to you that you have seen me and yet do not believe. 37 All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out. 38 For I have come down from heaven, not to do my own will but the will of him who sent me. 39 And this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up on the last day. 40 For this is the will of my Father, that everyone who looks on the Son and believes in him should have eternal life, and I will raise him up on the last day.”
Jesus came down from Heaven He is our hope and he will save all who believe
where the bread of the old testament failed jesus wont
