Introduction

This morning we have gathered on the actual birthday and memorial day of Martin Luther King Jr. A man among men, a leader among leader. One without we as a race of people would not be where we are. We ought to have a grateful heart towards our God for allowing this man to lead us to where we are even after his demise. I mean if there were not a Martin Luther King, Jr, we would not be gathered here today and other all over this land and country gather to celebrate. But I must ask a question Dr. Stevens, What now? Where can we go from here? There are many things that are going on right now so what now? I think about the words of God to Joshua in Joshua 1, when he tells Joshua, my servant Moses is dead. Dr. King is no longer with us, he was mercilessly shot down on a balcony at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, TN. So what now? There is a battle for democracy in government, what now? There is a push to shut down black history, or rather wants to shut down the black in history what now? What now?
On August 28, 1963 on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington, D.C. Dr. King gave one of the most, if not the most, memorable speeches of the civil rights movement, and one of the most iconic speeches in American History. He gave his famous, I have a dream speech. This wasn’t the first time he gave the speech, he gave a longer version at the Booker T. Washington High School in Rocky Mount, NC. He tells the people in both locations that he has a dream. I wish I had time to literate my full discourse that I believe Dr. King meant about the his dream, but I don’t have that time. In his speech, he went through history of how black people had been treated from the time of the Emancipation Proclamation, till that very moment. He says in his speech, and I quote, “America has given its colored people a bad check, a check that has come back marked “insufficient funds.... So we have come to cash this check, a check that will give us upon demand the riches of freedom and security of justice.” He came there to cash the check, but the check was based on a dream. A dream that “his four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by their character.”
But Dr. King is gone now, so what now?

Background

I consider the text read in your hearing. Jacob and his family is dwelling in the land of Canaan and he has some sons. He has Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Joseph. According to text Jacob had a special love for Joseph. This was shown when he made a coat of many colors. The brothers of Joseph did not like the special treatment of their brother, and caused them to be jealous. I wish I had time to deal with it, I don’t. Our text tells us of 2 dreams that joseph has had
