What is a parable? A parable is, literally, something “cast alongside” something else. (Earthly story with heavenly meaning)
Jesus’ parables were stories that were “cast alongside” a truth in order to illustrate that truth.
Why did Jesus use parables? In a large crowd, there are some who truly seek Jesus for all the right reasons, but others who are not interested in following Him
Matthew 13:15 “For the hearts of these people are hardened, and their ears cannot hear, and they have closed their eyes— so their eyes cannot see, and their ears cannot hear, and their hearts cannot understand, and they cannot turn to me and let me heal them.’”
If someone is unwilling to receive, then why keep offering what they do not want?
If I offer a soda and the persons declines my offer, at what point do I stop offering?
