What a friend with wit and charm. We always talked about going to Toga so we would be the only blondes in the country’. She even brought brought back a piece of ebony to give to my woodworking husband. I cherish the time I spent with her and Buddy. God bless you all. 📷

Mrs. Holland was my English teacher in the early 90s at Dension High School. I still have a small book of poetry that she gave to me. She was one of my favorite teachers and encouraged me to keep exploring my love of literature and writing. Sending wishes of peace and comfort to her family 📷.

Janet and I started at Denison HS the same day. She was a veteran English teacher who was always willing to share advice, materials, and experience with me, a rookie. I remember Tweety Bird, English conference trips, her care for her students, her love for teaching English, and her love for Buddy.
Karen Jannain Pulver

Janet and Buddy are two of the finest people I have ever had the pleasure to know. And they had two amazing sons one of which I had the honor of teaching at Martin high school. Janet left her mark on this world, and left us all better for it.

Janet was the heart of the Cancer Ministry. She kept it going wherever she lived.
That woman inspired me to try harder/ love more and do better. She always sent me cards of encouragement regularly! They were funny and made me laugh! She and Buddy helped me out on several occasions.
I will forever miss her loving spirit. To you Janet Holland .

Hope – not a word associated with death and funerals but when we talk about Janet’s life hope is wholly appropriate. Hope implies a future, a good future and as we reflect on Janet’s life, we clearly see that she not only impacted her present – she impacted the future. This world is not the same and will not be the same because Janet lived. Her life although marked by a date of birth and a date of death in no way considers how her life and every good life impacts the generations that come after. Janet lives on through the people she interacted with – she was a force that altered the lives of others and altered them for good. So there is hope, because Janet’s influence, this force, continues to live on in the lives of those who knew her.
Janet lives on in the lives of people
Church – such a light. PACOC was so blessed by Janet. On a personal note, took care of my adopted boys. They ate them out of house and home. FB posts
School – we all know what an important profession teaching is and she left her mark in the classroom. FB posts
Cancer – she used her experience to support others going through similar situations. FB posts
We have hope because Janet’s life meant something and her influence lives on
Janet lives on through her family
her loyal husband, Buddy; her sons and their wives, Jeff and Brenda, Shane and Lori; her six grandchildren, Briana Adair, Josiah Holland, Hannah Patterson, William Holland, Ellianna Holland, and Becca Holland; as well as her great-granddaughter, Landry Adair.
Janet will be remembered at family gatherings – you look like…, you act like…, remember how mom …., this reminds me of your grandmother …
And laughter and smiles will follow and maybe even a tear or two, a tear not just of sadness but of great joy to have had a mother, grandmother, wife who was such a beautiful soul – you’ll continue to thank God that somehow you ere fortunate enough to call her wife, mom, grandmother
We have hope because this family will carry on the many memories left behind
Janet lives in the lives of people she interacted with. Janet lives on through the shared memories of her family. But the best source of hope is that Janet lives
Through the power of a God who resurrects - Through the grace of God who forgives - And by the faith of a surrendered soul
Janet lives
1 Corinthians 15:54–57 (NIV) — 54 When the perishable has been clothed with the imperishable, and the mortal with immortality, then the saying that is written will come true: “Death has been swallowed up in victory.” 55“Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting?” Thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
1 Thessalonians 4:16–17 (NIV) — 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.
John 11:25–26 (NIV) — 25 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; 26 and whoever lives by believing in me will never die.”
Janet had written a Father’s Day letter to Buddy, but apparently she never found the right moment. Buddy found it this week. It may not be appropriate at a memorial, but Dad asked that at least part of it be read so people would see her love and tenderness. Let me know what you think:
Happy Father's Day 2023,
This year Father's Day is extra special to me because in September 2022, we thought you would not be here to celebrate our birthdays or Christmas. Because of good doctors and miracle drugs and an awesome God, you not only attended [Josiah’s] wedding, but we also celebrated Thanksgiving, our birthdays, Christmas and rang in 2023! All unexpected miracles.
Shortly after the new year, the cancer returned for the 3rd time with more vengeance… Each morning I awake in our tiny apartment, I'm thankful for you and for all the years we've spent together.
I don't want to lose you; I also do not want you to lose me. We have been together for so long, I cannot imagine life without you. I do not want you to suffer; I don't want to suffer. The time is near when one of us will be alone. If I am the one left, I hope it won't be for long.
I love you more than yesterday but less than tomorrow.
We never know what the future will bring. Medical technology changes so quickly, and God's timeline is not our timeline. You and I know that we don't have much time left on this earth, but we do know that we will be reunited in heaven; this is just our temporary home.
That is hope!
