How well do you listen?
I am not talking about hearing but listening. True listening is hard work! True listening is not for the faint of heart but only the courageous.
Mark is trying to have us hear who Jesus is.
He is wanting us to see who Jesus and be transformed.
Jesus is doing something new.
Teh way things were to happen is not the way Jesus was doing things. The focus is not on the old way of things but on how Jesus is doing a new thing
God’s kingdom is here, and coming.
The already-not-yet aspect of Jesus’ kingdom.
Jesus’ call demands a response.
No king would ever come into the world and say “here I am and if you want you can come to my side.” Jesus is issuing a radical call.
The call of the Gospel transforms all of life.
It isn’t a call to be a better me, though it is that. James, John, Peter and Andrew had a total reorientation.
Jesus calls us to be on mission with him.
This is what is known as outreach.
