No Condemnation

No condemnation
I would like to continue with our new series on the book of Romans.
This book is considered Paul’s masterpiece, a very well-constructed summary of Christian Theology.
Considered by many one of the most important books ever written on the Christian faith.
Today we are on the 8th chapter of Romans.
Chapter 1 we learned that
Paul was called by God to be an apostle.
Rom 1:16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
Rom 1:17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed—a righteousness that is by faith from first to last, just as it is written: "The righteous will live by faith."
2 God’s wrath against all evil and sin
3 Rom 3:23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
4 Abraham Justified by Faith
5 Rom 5:1 Therefore, since we have been justified through faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
Rom 6:16 Don't you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey—whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?
7 Paul’s describes our inner struggle
Rom 7:19 For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing.
All of us would be great spiritual giants if we could actually do the good we desire, but we keep trying to improve our flesh, so we can be loved by God.
As soon as we accept this truth, that there is nothing good in us in our flesh, that we need to surrender to Christ Jesus and live by the Spirit of God. Our walk with Christ can begin.
Romans 8
Rom 8:1 Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus,
Let’s talk about the difference between condemnation and conviction.
Is anyone struggling with this today?
My prayer is that Our Heavenly Father will set us free from condemnation, is a tremendous problem in the lives of many believers today.
Why is so easy for Christians to walk around filled with guilt, shame and feeling, condemn?
Let’s pray,

No condemnation

The enemy is always trying to so seeds of Condemnation into our lives, is a weapon well used by the enemy, He tries to deceive us into believing that there is something really wrong with us that we are so messed up, there is no use for us anymore.
Condemnation goes back to the beginning of times.
Genesis 3
The word we are using this morning from the new testament is made of two words one is handed down, and the other is justice, this handed down justice, a verdict , has been around from the beginning.
So in Genesis 3 we see that Adam and Eve after they had a conversation with a serpent they decided in their hearts that they didn’t believe that God had their best interest, that He was holding them back, that they couldn’t trust him. So, they decided to disobey God do the only thing he asked them not to do.
When God came to walk with them that evening, they were hiding because they were afraid, overwhelmed with guilt and shame, for the first time in their lives.
Than, they engaged in a conversation when God asked them who told you were naked? did you eat from the tree I command you not to eat?
Adam said It was the woman you gave me, they begin to blame each other than the Lord asked the woman what is this you have done ? the woman said the serpent deceived me, and I ate.
God righteously handed down a judgment, He is the only one in the whole universe who has the right to judge us, and He will judge us rightly.
So he hand down a sentence to the serpent
Gen 3:14 So the LORD God said to the serpent, "Because you have done this, "Cursed are you above all livestock and all wild animals! You will crawl on your belly and you will eat dust all the days of your life.
Gen 3:15 And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head, and you will strike his heel."
To the woman He sentenced her to have severe pain in childbirth and her desire will be for her husband, and he will rule over you.
Gen 3:16 To the woman he said, "I will make your pains in childbearing very severe; with painful labor you will give birth to children. Your desire will be for your husband, and he will rule over you."
For the man Adam the pleasurable work in the garden, turned into hard labor because the Lord cursed the ground.
Gen 3:17 To Adam he said, "Because you listened to your wife and ate fruit from the tree about which I commanded you, 'You must not eat from it,' "Cursed is the ground because of you; through painful toil you will eat food from it all the days of your life.
Gen 3:18 It will produce thorns and thistles for you, and you will eat the plants of the field.
Gen 3:19 By the sweat of your brow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return."
They were condemn and sentenced by a good, righteous, and Holy God.
So it became very clear that if we disobeyed God we will pay consequences, condemned and sentenced.
So when the enemy wants today to plant seeds of condemnation into our lives, or bombard us with condemnation, this is not a new idea, this has been around from the beginning of our story a sentence was handed down because of sin.
And doesn’t matter if I was in the garden or not, because a short time after that, came the ten commandments, and the first one is “ You shall have no other god’s before me”.
I don’t know about you but I have not being able to keep this commandment, there is not a day, that I don’t depend on, trust on, hope or look for something or someone rather than God.
Exo 20:3 "You shall have no other gods before me.
Exo 20:4 "You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the waters below.
Exo 20:5 You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, punishing the children for the sin of the parents to the third and fourth generation of those who hate me,
Exo 20:6 but showing love to a thousand generations of those who love me and keep my commandments.
Exo 20:7 "You shall not misuse the name of the LORD your God, for the LORD will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
God was looking for a relationship a response from our hearts, He was not giving just a bunch of rules for us to follow, and we can’t even do that.
So condemnation is part of our story, so I stand here condemn for all my sins, all of us have sinned and come short of the glory of God.

2 God has changed our story

what I want for you to hear this morning is that our story has change
Our story is not just the story of sin and death.
The enemy has this story down and he will come after us as often as we allow him , because he wants to bring us down.
He comes to you and hangs a sign around your neck saying condemn.
Have you ever seeing a sign saying condemn In front of a building or a house.
Basically is saying Is nothing left to be done here, this place is not safe, to bulldozed it down, is the next step, this place is not fit for anything, is an embarrassment.
Condemnation is the belief that you are not worthy, because you failed, you are done.
Satan loves to use condemnation on you, because produces fear, regret and shame.
But God, because of his love and mercy, already had a plan, and at the right time He sent His son Jesus Christ into the world to demonstrate His love for us. And he changed our story.
Rom 8:2 because through Christ Jesus the law of the Spirit who gives life has set you free from the law of sin and death.
Rom 8:3 For what the law was powerless to do because it was weakened by the flesh, God did by sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh to be a sin offering. And so he condemned sin in the flesh,
In Christ God condemned sin once for all, a divine lawful process.
Rom 8:4 in order that the righteous requirement of the law might be fully met in us, who do not live according to the flesh but according to the Spirit.
Our new story
Through Christ Jesus He took out condemnation from our story, He condemn Jesus and sentenced Him in our place. At the cross He was punished for your sins my sins and the sins of the world. All came down on the cross on the son of God, he was crushed for you and me.
Isa 53:3 He was despised and rejected by men, a man of sorrows and acquainted with grief; and as one from whom men hide their faces he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
Isa 53:4 Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflicted.
Isa 53:5 But he was pierced for our transgressions; he was crushed for our iniquities; upon him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with his wounds we are healed.
Sin has a terrible consequence.
We need to align our minds with the change that God brought into our story He condemned Jesus for our sin.
So whenever the enemy is trying to condemn us today, our Heavenly Father has place that upon Jesus, and for you and me there is no more condemnation.
Jesus gave us a glimpse of what he came to do, when they brought to him the woman caught in adultery.
Joh 8:2 Early in the morning he came again to the temple. All the people came to him, and he sat down and taught them.
Joh 8:3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst
Joh 8:4 they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery.
Joh 8:5 Now in the Law, Moses commanded us to stone such women. So what do you say?”
The they were referring the same law that all of us have not being able to keep, that we all have tripped on, this law says we have to stone her.
Joh 8:6 This they said to test him, that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground.
Joh 8:7 And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, “Let him who is without sin among you be the first to throw a stone at her.”
Joh 8:8 And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground.
Joh 8:9 But when they heard it, they went away one by one,
beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him.
Joh 8:10 Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”
Joh 8:11 She said, “No one, Lord.” And Jesus said, “Neither do I condemn you; go, and from now on sin no more.”]]
Jesus was not being soft or tolerant with her sin, he was not giving anyone a free pass, he was giving us a pick into what he came to do, he came to save us from death, he came to forgive us, and give us a new life , He was simply saying I’m standing with you, go and sin no more. In the middle of our failure he says, I’m with you.
Jesus took condemnation out of our story.
Joh 3:17 For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
Ex: I was very familiar with condemnation, growing up, the enemy would play my sins vividly in my mind, when I became a Christian, he used that to show me that I was a failure good for nothing, then I began to repent for my sins and receive God’s forgiveness, than he change, he would make about what I said and how stupid that idea was, or how dumb I looked doing this or that, and I would go through the regret and fear and shame even when was not a sin.
Condemnation is never clear; the enemy will try anything just to make you to feel rejected and unworthy,
Rom 8:5 Those who live according to the flesh have their minds set on what the flesh desires; but those who live in accordance with the Spirit have their minds set on what the Spirit desires.

3 The Holy Spirit is the one who brings conviction.

Jesus shared this about the Holy Spirit before He died and was raised from the dead.
Joh 16:8 And when he comes, he will convict the world concerning sin and righteousness and judgment:
Conviction from the Holy Spirit is clear, and to the point, you have no excuses and is to lead you into repentance, you still have the choice to disobey but it is clear, you know what you did and you are convinced that you are at fault and you have a way to make it right, repent.
Joh 16:9 concerning sin, because they do not believe in me;
The sin that will keep us away from salvation is unbelief not believing that Jesus is the Christ. The Holy Spirit will convict us that we need Jesus .
Joh 16:10 concerning righteousness, because I go to the Father, and you will see me no longer;
Concerning righteousness, The Holy Spirit will teach you what is right .
Joh 16:11 concerning judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
Judgement, Satan has been judge and condemned, he tries to place that on us but he is the one condemned.
Joh 16:13 When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come.
Rom 8:6 The mind governed by the flesh is death, but the mind governed by the Spirit is life and peace.
Rom 8:7 The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God's law, nor can it do so.
Rom 8:8 Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.
Rom 8:9 You, however, are not in the realm of the flesh but are in the
realm of the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, they do not belong to Christ.
Is the Holy Spirit in you that convicts you that you are a child of God, you need Christ as your Lord and Savior that you are an heir, with Christ, that you are forgiven justified and Holy and of judgment that , the prince of this world, is condemn.
Surrender to the power and control of the Holy Spirit.
Have you asked Jesus to be your Lord and Savior? Let me give you an opportunity to do so.
"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. Joh 3:16
To receive Him we need to accept Him as God’s son, repent from our sins and a life of selfishness, asking Him to be your Lord and savior, not that you deserve it, but is a gift from God.
If this is your desire today, please repeat this prayer after me?
Heavenly Father I’m sinner, I’m sorry for my sins, I’m willing to turn away from my sins.
I receive Christ as my savior,
I confess him as Lord
from this moment on I want to follow and serve him,
in the fellowship of his church,
In Jesus name. Amen!
1Co 11:23 For I received from the Lord that which I also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus on the same night in which He was betrayed took bread;
1Co 11:24 and when He had given thanks, He broke itand said, "Take, eat; this is My body which is broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me."
1Co 11:25 In the same manner He also took the cup after supper, saying, "This cup is the new covenant in My blood. This do, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me."
1Co 11:26 For as often as you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death till He comes.
1Co 11:27 Therefore whoever eats this bread or drinks thiscup of the Lord in an unworthy manner will be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord.
Heb 9:14 dead works, acts, sins
E mau aku ka loko maika’i o ka Haku, Iesu Kristo; me ke aloha a ke Akua, a me ka launa pu ‘ana mai o ka Uhane Hemolele ia ‘olua, a me makou apau. Amene.
