The Spoils of Victory

1 John 5:1-5 “Everyone who believes that Jesus is the Christ has been born of God, and everyone who loves the Father loves whoever has been born of him. By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God and obey his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome. For everyone who has been born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith. Who is it that overcomes the world except the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?”

Jesus is the over comer of the world, only those who have unity with him can claim unity with the flawless victory.

Our faith has also overcome the world.

Believing that Jesus is the Son of God.

The world = Satan’s invisible operating system, hordes of demonic forces, fallen angels, that have sided with the devil, corrupted blinded humans, majority mindset that loves lie rather than the truth about Jesus (That he is the Son of God and died for the sins of the world).

The world hides the truth about Christ and keeps you a captive and not knowing the truth about God.

FLO - faith, love, obedience

THE APPLICATION: how can we help each other increase in BIBLICAL FAITH, LOVE, and OBEDIENCE

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO IMPROVE YOUR DEVOTION TO JESUS?

SPIRITUAL DISCIPLINES: the word, meditation, prayer

Non-negotiable appointments: your time with the Lord is the most important thing you do in the day

Cramming all the Bible at once and then not reading for a few days.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO IMPROVE YOUR LOVE TO OTHER CHRISTIANS?

Be the listener in the conversation, don’t interject, let them spew.

Reaching out to others, being intentional.

Investment in people and spending the time and be vulnerable, being interested in what their interested in, be open to things.

Forbearance of sins when people wrong you. Forgive quickly.

But also at the right time confront sin.

WHAT CAN I DO TO STOKE A DEEP DESIRE TO PLEASE GOD THROUGH OBEDIENCE?

During specific circumstances

Godly mindset is the start

We have the desire for all kinds of other things, but what can we do to stoke a desire to please God And be obedient.
