Going Forward in the Worship of God

Introduction

A. Worship has become almost it’s entity and in some ways it’s own industry.

B. Worship in the English language used to be spelled Worthship.

C. Worship must be in spirit and in truth.

i. Dr Adrian Rogers said “ if you worship in spirit only you will be a fanatic, and if you worship in truth only you will be a pharisee. you must worship in spirit and in truth.”

I. God is God

A. The reality of his deity

1. Exodus 15:2 “The Lord is my strength and song, And he is become my salvation: He is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; My father’s God, and I will exalt him.”

B. The remembrance of his deity

Psalm 100:3 “Know ye that the Lord he is God: It is he that hath made us, and not we ourselves; We are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.”

C. The response to his deity

Exodus 15:2 “The Lord is my strength and song, And he is become my salvation: He is my God, and I will prepare him an habitation; My father’s God, and I will exalt him.”

II. God is Glorious

A. In his Character

Exodus 15:11 “Who is like unto thee, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like thee, glorious in holiness, Fearful in praises, doing wonders?”

1 Kings 8:23 KJV 1900

And he said, Lord God of Israel, There is no God like thee, in heaven above, or on earth beneath, who keepest covenant and mercy with thy servants that walk before thee with all their heart:

Psalm 71:19 “Thy righteousness also, O God, is very high, Who hast done great things: O God, who is like unto thee!”

B. In his Conduct

Psalm 89:6–8 “For who in the heaven can be compared unto the Lord? Who among the sons of the mighty can be likened unto the Lord? God is greatly to be feared in the assembly of the saints, And to be had in reverence of all them that are about him. O Lord God of hosts, Who is a strong Lord like unto thee? Or to thy faithfulness round about thee?”
