G.I.J.N. WELCOME TO OUR SERVICE HERE THIS EVENING -

THINKING OF THE TOPIC HERE THIS EVENING MY MIND WAS DRAWN THE OLD TESTAMENT ACCOUNT OF WHEN MOSES RECEIVED THE TEN COMMANDMENTS AND THE INSTRUCTIONS THAT WERE GIVEN FOR THE CHILDREN OF ISRAEL. SO I WANTED TO LOOK AT THESE VERSES AND HOW THEY ARE RELEVANT AND CAN BE APPLIED TO US AS CHRISTIANS OF TODAY. THESE VERSES ARE IN DEUTERONOMY 6 WHICH IS THE CHAPTER FOLLOWING THE TEN COMMANDMENTS.

Deuteronomy 6:4–9 KJV 1900

Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God is one Lord: And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might. And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes. And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.

MOSES IS GIVING THESE INSTRUCTION ON WHAT WE ARE TO DO WITH THE WRITTEN WORD - THIS WAS FOLLOWING MOSES WORDS

DEUTERONOMY 5: 22 These words the LORD spake unto all your assembly in the mount out of the midst of the fire, of the cloud, and of the thick darkness, with a great voice: and he added no more. And he wrote them in two tables of stone, and delivered them unto me.

WE HAVE THE TREMENDOUS BLESSING OF THE WRITTEN WORD PASSED DOWN AND PRESERVED THOUGH THE AGES AND HAVING IT PUT TOGETHER IN ONE BOOK THE BIBLE. SO WHAT ARE WE TO DO WITH IT - SAME AS WHEN MOSES RECIEVED THE TABLES OF STONE

WE ARE TO KEEP IT RIGHT BY OUR SIDE -

USE IT AS A GUIDE TO LEAD US -

COMMIT IT TO MEMORY SO I CAN NOT BE LOST OR TAKEN AWAY

WRITE IT OUT SO WE SEE IT - WRITE IT ON THE WALLS OF OUR HOMES - MOTTOS AND DECORATIONS ARE THINGS WE DO.

THE REST OF CHAPTER 6 TELLS OF THE THE BLESSINGS OF THE LORD IF WE DO THESE THINGS AND WHEN OUR CHILDREN ASK WHATS THIS MEAN WE CAN GIVE AN ANSWER. ALSO VERSE 18 OF CHAPTER 6 SAYS And thou shalt do that which is right and good in the sight of the LORD: that it may be well with thee,

BUT THERE IS JUST AS STRONG OF A WARNING IF WE DO NOT KEEP THE COMMANDMENTS AND PASSING ON THE WORD OF THE LORD .

DEUTERONOMY (Chapter 8)

11 Beware that thou forget not the LORD thy God, in not keeping his commandments, and his judgments, and his statutes, which I command thee this day:

19 And it shall be, if thou do at all forget the LORD thy God, and walk after other gods, and serve them, and worship them, I testify against you this day that ye shall surely perish. 20 As the nations which the LORD destroyeth before your face, so shall ye perish; because ye would not be obedient unto the voice of the LORD your God.

BEGIN OUR STUDIES WITH PRAYER

LOOK FOR AND BE OPEN TO PERSONAL IMPROVEMENT IN OUR HEARTS

USE GOOD ANABAPTIST BASED SOURCES FOR STUDY

DESIRE TO MAKE APPLICATION IN OUR LIVES

TO BE EXCITED ABOUT THE WORD SO OTHERS ARE DRAWN TO LEARN AND BENEFIT.

I BELIEVE THIS EVENING WE WILL RECEIVE ENCOURAGEMENT OF ANOTHER WAY TO DISCOVER GOD WORDS BY STUDING IT AND THEN WRITING ABOUT IT TO HELP OTHERS TO HAVE A BETTER UNDERSTANDING OF THE TEACHING GOD HAS FOR US.
