Questions:
How does fundraising work? What are the jobs that RTIM allows us to do? How does RTIM understand the task of missions not among unreached languages, but among unreached peoples in general? How could we utilize Radical training as a RTIM missionary looking to go to unreached? How does RTIM utilize member care? How could we make it into India? Would we partner with certain churches? And if not, we are not partnering with those who are genuinely converted and could hurt the m task in that area? Why are there so many english speaking churches? What is the point of these churches amongst many unreached peoples? How does it work when it comes to evangelism? How do we make sure this does not take a backseat in missionary work? Would you work with national churches? How do we go about that?

Biblical Theology of Missions
Genesis 1:28–29 “28 And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” 29 And God said, “Behold, I have given you every plant yielding seed that is on the face of all the earth, and every tree with seed in its fruit. You shall have them for food.”
This is a great commission to do two things: subdue and multiply.
to bear God’s image he is a son of God and a king’s servant
Thus, with his image on earth he kick starts what we may call the humanity project… these image bearers are ambassadors to the one in which image they bear
God’s end game for creation is a world filled with people who love him, who obey him, who worship him, this is the point. A global people of God.
Genesis 3:15 “15 I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and her offspring; he shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise his heel.””
When Adam and Eve sin he does not give up. He will have a world covered with people who reflect his character and worship him rightly, it is just rerouted as to how it will get there.
God will restore what Adam lost, the seed of the woman will be the new and better Adam, he will create men and women around the world who will image God and worship him rightly
Genesis 12:1–3 “1 Now the Lord said to Abram, “Go from your country and your kindred and your father’s house to the land that I will show you. 2 And I will make of you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great, so that you will be a blessing. 3 I will bless those who bless you, and him who dishonors you I will curse, and in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.””
the nation is a kingdom, the family is a clan a desert tribe, a group of wandering nomads
Exodus 19:5 “5 Now therefore, if you will indeed obey my voice and keep my covenant, you shall be my treasured possession among all peoples, for all the earth is mine;”
As they keep his word and worship him rightly, God will make them, along with all the families of the earth
He goes on to David and Solomon and how he knows that his son will be one in which the curse will be broken torah ha adam, not sure what verse this was.
The people were made to be a light to the nations, through Israel God wanted to save the whole world. The point of the tabernacle was one in which God’s presence among the people, was supposed to be a light among the nations, and thus because they knew he was great and seen his greatness as he continues to provide for them, and as they keep the covenant with their God people will come in because God will work in and through the obedience of his people.
Isaiah 1:10 “10 Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom! Give ear to the teaching of our God, you people of Gomorrah!”
They are not a blessing to the nations, they have become like the people.
You can take the people out of Egypt, but you can not take the Egypt out of people.
Is all hope lost?
Isaiah 2:1–5 “1 The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. 2 It shall come to pass in the latter days that the mountain of the house of the Lord shall be established as the highest of the mountains, and shall be lifted up above the hills; and all the nations shall flow to it, 3 and many peoples shall come, and say: “Come, let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob, that he may teach us his ways and that we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. 4 He shall judge between the nations, and shall decide disputes for many peoples; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war anymore. 5 O house of Jacob, come, let us walk in the light of the Lord.”
Isaiah 19:23–25 “23 In that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and Assyria will come into Egypt, and Egypt into Assyria, and the Egyptians will worship with the Assyrians. 24 In that day Israel will be the third with Egypt and Assyria, a blessing in the midst of the earth, 25 whom the Lord of hosts has blessed, saying, “Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel my inheritance.””
Isaiah 42 “1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold, my chosen, in whom my soul delights; I have put my Spirit upon him; he will bring forth justice to the nations. 2 He will not cry aloud or lift up his voice, or make it heard in the street; 3 a bruised reed he will not break, and a faintly burning wick he will not quench; he will faithfully bring forth justice. 4 He will not grow faint or be discouraged till he has established justice in the earth; and the coastlands wait for his law.
How in the world will he save a rebellious people? His people are riddled with idolatry, sin and other forms of disobedience. They are not worshipping him rightly at all.
400 years goes by
Matthew wants us to see Jesus’ kingdom as a global kingdom.
Kings from the east, the place of exile chose to go and visit Jesus first.
Many will come to the table, thus Jesus is choosing to heal centurions, and canaanite women and much more.
We see 5,00 Israelites fed, then 4,000 gentiles fed
Even the centurion knew that this man was the Son of God who dies on the tree
Matthew 28:18–20“18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.””
This is a restatement of the original creation mandate, subdue and multiply, authority and make disciples.
The New Adam has taken dominion, and now through his bride, his church, he is populating the nations with those who worship God as they are supposed.
Jesus succeeds where Adam, Israel, David, and Solomon fail, he is the true Israel the light of the world, the light of the gentiles, to use his disciples, his bride, the church to make disciples of all nations.
Let us take the gospel everywhere for our God is profoundly good at carrying out the Great Commission. He has all authority, and is with us, and will indeed bring sinners to himself.
Just look at the book of Acts, where we see God doing this among all the nations.

Ephesians 2:11–21 “11 Therefore remember that at one time you Gentiles in the flesh, called “the uncircumcision” by what is called the circumcision, which is made in the flesh by hands— 12 remember that you were at that time separated from Christ, alienated from the commonwealth of Israel and strangers to the covenants of promise, having no hope and without God in the world. 13 But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ. 14 For he himself is our peace, who has made us both one and has broken down in his flesh the dividing wall of hostility 15 by abolishing the law of commandments expressed in ordinances, that he might create in himself one new man in place of the two, so making peace, 16 and might reconcile us both to God in one body through the cross, thereby killing the hostility. 17 And he came and preached peace to you who were far off and peace to those who were near. 18 For through him we both have access in one Spirit to the Father. 19 So then y…”

A Brief History of Modern Missions
A Brief History of Modern Missions
1792-1910
William Carey
He wanted to leap over boundaries to take the gospel to the heathens
Global engagement
Missions societies
1910-1974
Edinburgh gathering
Culmination of scientific progress to have the ability of the world, understand it, and become the masters of it
People came together and wanted to reach the ends of the earth and very well fulfill the Great Commission, that is world evangelization. Not necessarily the world of local churches, they wanted to bring back the King.
Student volunteer movement
Became convinced that they could ultimately fulfill the Great Commission
World council of churches
what we could use with the technologies to reach the world, there was another stream who was more skeptical and pessimistic because of the world wars.
We also saw much inclusivisim in this council, well not many were okay with this idea about trying to make sure that they do not just pursue peace and love, but rather gospel proclamation
Then another group was formed was called the Lausanne Project
1974-2023
Lausanne Project
People Groups was first understood and explained by Ralph Winters
the idea was to go back to the great task displayed and understood in 1910
The Great Century
Global engagement
William Carey- India
Judson- Burma
Livingstone- Africa interior
Paton- New Hebrides
Zwemer- Middle east
Methodological Approach
Gospel proclamation
discipleship and church planting
translation and literacy
Education and Civilization
Denominational missions societies
Edinburgh to Lausanne
Contributions
Explosion of global missions
Global missions partnership
Emphasis on evangelism
Stewardship of modern means
Controversy
Ecumenical drift from orthodoxy
lost the centrality of the church because of the world evangelization
Human optimism for change
should we not put aside the centrality of denominations and distinctions so as to multiply our ability to proclaim and partner for the sake of gospel proclamation. The urgency is to great to worry about secondary and tertiary issues.
Culture gains a pedestal
Thus we see much overcontextualization
Thus, the agencies can only provide this raising up and the churches now take a step back and do not choose to raise up leaders anymore.
Church sidelined in missions
Ralph Winters and the People Groups
Paradigm shifts
Geo-political nations to peoples
Irreducible missionary task
urgency to engage lostness
Discipling a nation
Concerns in Tension
Glory of God or state of the lost?
We need a theocentric motivation and not an anthropocentric motivation
Traditionalism
commitment to what we have always done, do not overcontextualize, but also do not undercontextualize
Movements that have formed because of the urgency of the lost
Holism
The gospel changes everything, but it is not everything
The church holds together these three tensions: traditionalism, movement, and holism
these three are not necessarily bad things in and off themselves, but need to be held together by the local church
Reaching and Teaching Core Values
Reaching and Teaching Core Values
We seek to advance the gospel by:
making mature disciples
Establishing healthy churches
training local leaders
They are spot on when it comes to the providence of God and laying our heads down on the pillow of God’s sovereignty. No matter what, there will be no one in hell because we we messed up and did not go. Do they not understand that without the gospel people are going to hell, and thus we are by not going to them not giving them a chance?

Ecclesiology As Evangelism
Ecclesiology As Evangelism
The local church speaks
John 13:33-35; John 17:21-23/
When glory is giving to us, we are united to one another, and then we love others in our church that others may know of the love in which Christ has for us.
Our good works towards one another, is what we are speaking of.
We need to let the gospel shine as much as possible through the healthiness of the church
Calling
Calling
This is the mystical idea of the one big thing in my life
This could create despair, and could also make us mail it in for the thing in which God has us to do right now and here.
The one big thing can create a stick to itiveness that is not healthy at all
There is always a primary and secondary calling brother
No matter if we like our current assignment right now or not we can not mail in what God has set before us
Put something in place at Trinity about motivations for missions
Missionary Task
Missionary Task
Look at the 10 convictions placed in the little booklet
Reaching is learning the language and sharing the gospel and establishing churches for the glory of God
You can not obey the commands of Christ without being a part of the church, for we are called to be obedient to the fact of being in a local body (Matthew 16)
You can not make a case as to how long to stay at a place based off of what Paul has chosen as he was run off
I understand the fact that we must be reaching and teaching and yet it looks different in a lot of different places
Global Ecclesiology
Global Ecclesiology
spoke on the homogenous principle and explains that we want to plant churches that are only associated with people like me
the rest is in the notebook… keep the notebook. It was really helpful
