The importance of the Question

Prayer
Welcome back to the Anchor everyone!
Tonight we are going to be asking the question: How is Jesus both God and man? Why does the church believe this? What does it matter to our lives anyways?
The 3 2 1 of God
Like last week we are going to be diving deeper into this topic. Before we begin, why do you think it is important we know how to show from the Bible that Jesus is both God and man?
Whenever we make a truth claim, it is important we have reasons behind it. The Bible is truth. Everything it says is true about reality. Everything. We are called to base our entire life on it.

A SYSTEMATIC SEARCH!

Could you guys help me in answering these questions by looking up and reading the verses?

1. Jesus is fully God

John 1:1 “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”
John 8:58 “Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was, I am.””
1 John 5:20 “And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true; and we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.”
Why do you think people disbelieve that Jesus is God?
How would you respond to them?

2. Jesus is fully Man

1 Timothy 2:5 “For there is one God, and there is one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus,”
Philippians 2:5–9 “Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name,”
Galatians 4:4 “But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law,”
Jesus was born of a woman, had a body, had emotions, and He experienced pain.
Jesus was human as humans ought to be.
Why are we different than Jesus?

3. Salvation

Jesus being both God and man has a big effect on salvation
Romans 8:3 “For God has done what the law, weakened by the flesh, could not do. By sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and for sin, he condemned sin in the flesh,”
2 Corinthians 5:21 “For our sake he made him to be sin who knew no sin, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God.”

How this affects our lives

How do you guys think Jesus being both God and man affects our lives?
Hebrews 4:15 “For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but one who in every respect has been tempted as we are, yet without sin.”
Christ is our anchor, He is our solid ground when life is shaky. Life for Jesus was hard, our lives will be hard too.
People were mean to Jesus, called Him names, attacked Him, and went after Him. We can go to Him when we are mistreated.
Jesus’ family thought He was crazy and mistreated Him as well. We can go to Him when we are struggling with our family.
Jesus knew pain, sadness, and grief. We can go to Him when we feel these emotions.
1. The Bible shows that Jesus is fully God and fully man
2. Jesus took our place by receiving our punishment, and we received His place in eternal life and relationship with God.
3. We can go to Jesus about everything because He can relate to us in our suffering. We can talk to Him about it!
