Passover to Communion 1 Corinthians 11:24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

To begin with brothers and sisters, Christian Friends, Well Wishers and Saints of God Today we have a powerful, potent, and prophetic lesson. And there are a Plethora of theological and doctrinal dynamics that causes us to pause and pay attention to the Passover of the Old Testament and the Communion of the New Testament.

And so the historicity of the Passover as it relates to modern day communion in the 21st century had an awful start. Tell your neighbor:It was terrible!

The Israelites were oppressed by the Egyptian

And in the course of my study time the question was asked of me “Is there anything too hard for God”?

There seemed to be no end to the awful plight of the Hebrew nation that was being enslaved in Egypt Land.

And Old Testament scripture says that God sent Moses. Moses was a Hebrew baby boy who was raised by pharaoh's daughter as a Prince of Egypt for 40 years. Moses grew up and end up killed an Egyptian taskmaster for beating a Hebrew slave.

Moses ran away and ended up in the land of Midian. Jethro allowed Moses to marry his daughter Zeporah.

And One day Moses was herding the flock and saw a bush burning and the bush wouldn’t burn up. And as Moses got close to this marvel the Lord said Moses 2x Take off your shoes because the ground you’re standing on is Holy Ground.

Let me say this clearly, (“!Pilgrim the ground you’re standing on is Holy Ground”). God said Moses go tell Pharaoh to Let My people go.

Through a long conversation Moses agreed with God. And If you don’t hear nothing else I say about this Passover Communion story just don’t forget to listen to God when He gives you instructions. God told Moses to go and tell Pharoah (TO LET MY PEOPLE GO)

Moses goes before Pharoah 9x and says thus saith the Lord God Almighty (Let My People Go!) And Pharaoh would not. And even after The Nile River was turned to blood. Frogs all over the land.Gnats and flies dust boils and diseases dead livestock .Then darkness all over the land. Then hail storms that rained down fire and ice at the same time all over the land. Then the Locust came and ate up everything in sight.

And Then finally God sent the last plague. The last plaque was that every first born in Egypt would die. And so thus began the Passover. The only way that anybody 3x would be spared from the death angel was the blood of an unblemished Lamb.

The blood from the Lamb had to be painted over the door post of each Hebrew Home. And The land of Goshen was plenteous, prosperous, and potent with an abundance of perfect Lambs for the sacrifice. In fact the land of Goshen never experienced any of the awful plagues that the Egyptian experienced. And as a result the Israelite people brought their best before God. And I submit to us today that we bring our best gifts before God in 2024.

In Old Testament scriptures, The Levites and the Priests would slaughter the Lambs, prepare the Lambs, and then paint the Lamb’s blood over all of the Israelites’ door posts.

The Children of Israel got in a state of reverent fear for this great event.

They got bitter herbs as God commanded Moses and Aaron to instruct them. Moses said “if you want to live do exactly as God has commanded”: get some cos lettuce, get some endive, get some chicory, get some dandelions, and get some sorrel, all of which are some sour tasting salad vegetables.

The night that the death angel strolled through the streets. The Israelites had to eat the lamb’s meat roasted over the fire along with the bitter herbs, and unleavened bread bread. They were to eat fully dressed and be prepared to leave at moments notice. They had to have their shoes on their feet, their staffs in hand and they had to eat quick because it’s the Lord’s Passover. And the church said Amen.

If it were ever a time that we move quickly towards God’s unchanging hand, brothers and sisters that time ought to be now. It looks like nations are on the The way towards world war III right now. Jesus is coming back. The Jewish Passover is covered in the Book of Exodus.

But that’s only the beginning of the story. Because now that Pharoah and the Egyptian had experienced God’s wrath concerning His People, God expects His people to follow Him from now on.

Some did but too many didn’t. As you read the extensive history of Israel we find that The good kings of Israel and Judah kept the Passover traditions. The bad kings followed idol gods, and the Lord God Jehovah didn’t like it when Israel or Judah followed idol gods.

brothers and sisters It’s bad when we take God for granted. The Children of Israel were the chosen people but Chosen or not we have to be reverent to God. God doesn’t like defiant, disobedient, and disrespectful people especially if they follow and serve false idol gods. And the church said Amen.

Let’s go to Luke 22:15 in the New Testament where Jesus makes the new covenant with humankind. Jesus makes a profound statement to His disciples. 15 And he said unto them, ‶ With desire I have desired to eat this passover with you before I suffer: 16. For I say unto you, I will not any more eat thereof, until it be fulfilled in the kingdom of God. ″

I was studying this text and I got a deeper understanding of it. Here’s what blew my mind. When Jesus said in verses 15&16 “I really want to eat this Passover meal with you before I suffer. 16 But I will not eat another Passover meal (until The Passover is given its true meaning in the kingdom of God.” 3x ). Because it’s true meaning implies that a big change is going to take place. Jesus is saying that The Passover is going to mean some thing different from now on. Listen saints of God, the first Passover was a special sacrifice to save lives from the death angel in Egypt. But this new Passover will now mean that through the shedding of Jesus’ blood on the cross at Calvary every person on the planet will have a right to the tree of life from now on. Everybody can be saved through Jesus Christ, Meaning the Messiah has come and has freely and willingly laid down His life for the sins of humankind. And so in the New Testament Jesus institutes the Lord’s Supper as the Last Supper and as the final symbolic sacrifice. Because shortly thereafter Jesus gives His Life as the Suffering Servant.

The Passover is a significant piece of the puzzle for the redemption of mankind’s relationship with God Almighty.

The word Passover in the Hebrew vernacular is Pesah which means it’s a pretermission or an exemption from being a victim.

In the NT the word Passover is Pascha which basically means the same thing but in this context it means it’s a choice whether a not you’re going to be a victim or the victor. If you don’t accept Jesus you will be the victim but those of us who have accepted Jesus know that we already have the victory We are already the victor. We are already the head and not the tail, We are already above and not beneath.

And so the actual ritual is relatively short. A big meal is prepared. And I Corinthians 11:24 says And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me. 25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, This cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.

Well let me add some integrity to the text. In verse 24 when Jesus said take eat this is my body, that means that The broken bread reminds us of Christ’s body,and that He wants us to remember His death because He gave His life for us;

And then the cup reminds us of His shed blood. Because there would be no remission of sins unless there is was the shedding of Jesus Christ’s Blood!

Jesus wants His followers to be dedicated Christians. Because the Corinthian Church had started having new negative normals. What do you mean by that? They had changed the sacrificial poor man meal into a rich extravagant banquet. They had turn the Love Feast into a Selfish (I got mine you get your own!) The Corinthians had turn the sacred communion meal into (the haves and the have nots).

And originally in the OLD TESTAMENT all the Hebrew slaves were poor. And likewise In early American life all the salves were poor and we didn’t have rights. And just like the Corinthian Church when we started getting two nickles to rubbed together we started thinking we were better than our fellow man.

But God is not respect of persons. Rich or poor, black or white, gay or straight, Jew or gentile, Protestant or Catholic we are all God’s Children..

We have to be care not to institute forced classism. And sometimes is an unconscious decision. Sometimes we don’t mean it.. Here’s what I’m talking about. For instance:

1. Maybe the old administration was stiff and rigid perhaps at times even cold hearted.

2. Now that you’re in charge instead of changing that negative functionality we sometimes do just what they did.

But here’s my promise to you, “I promised not to be a dictator but a participator. I promised God I’d be a servant not a fat cat waiting to be served. I promised to treat everybody the same if they act like Christians ought to act. and lastly I promised the Lord that I’d be a defender of Righteousness.

And Paul had gotten fed up with the unholy carnal minded behavior of the Corinthian Church. True story “For new years there was a church that had a big party inside the church they dropped the disco balls they were dropping it like it’s hot

They were living it up living up oh yeah and they were live live all the way live forget about your nine to five and just sail on, and so somebody said why are you bringing all of that syncretism into God’s church on new year’s eve ( Syncretism is the mixing of the secular with the divine) They don’t really mix. It’s like oil and water. You can shake it up but after you let it settle a while the oil floats up to the top and the water goes to the bottom. Righteousness and sin are the same way.

So the young preacher said old man you tripping, we had over 2 dozen people saved… Then the Old preacher said Saved!! Saved from what! and to what! Because God is still Holy son… and allowing people to come to your church on New Years night and drink alcohol and dance to secular music with the lights turn down low saying baby come close in God’s church, Ain’t being saved by God. They might be serving a god but not the True and Living God.

AND so in 2024 Communion has to mean something Holy something reverent towards God.

And in our personal walk with God in 2024 we’ve got to be able to discern between right and wrong. Were you blessed by the message?
