It’s Divine Intention

The scriptures though written before were written to benefit US. Scripture has a purpose, and that purpose is the building up of the body. Scripture does have a contemporary purpose, but ultimately it was written for the body in all of history.

It’s Present Focus

Everything written in the past is for us. It's not just for the past, it's for all times. Yes, it has a cultural and temporal context, but God gives us principles through his word for our good. When we read scripture, it is for us.

It’s Christological Goal

All scripture points to Christ.

John 5:39 ESV

You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness about me,

It's practical purpose.

Scripture leads to salvation, but also encouragement, endurance, and hope.

It's divine message

"God has spoken...[and He] continues to speak through what he has spoken."
