Mark 11:24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Introduction

The Scriptures let’s us know that there are several key components and conditions for successful prayer. We see from from the Word of God written in 1 John 3:22 that obedience to God is a condition for successful prayer as it reads, “And whatsoever we ask, we receive of him, because we keep his commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in his sight.” Righteous living is important for successful prayer in the sense that the Bible says in James 5:16 “Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.” Another key element of prayer is that of whole-heartedness. The Bible declares in Jeremiah 29:13 “And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart.” Another component for successful prayer is one of contrition and repentance as the Word of God states plainly in 2 Chronicles 7:14 “If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land. In addition to all of these: Obedience, Righteousness, Whole-heartedness, Contrition and Repentance, and more is the element of Faith! And faith probably being one of the most important conditions of all as Scripture informs us by way of Hebrews 11:6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. There’s an old song with a line that said prayer is the key, and faith unlocks the door!
